As his Justice and Public Safety ministers, Harper has named two prominent social-conservatives, infamous for their pro-police rhetoric, indifference to basic civil liberties, and criticism of “activist” judges. The defence minister is a career military officer and paid lobbyist for the arms industry who, not surprisingly, has long advocated sharply increased military spending.     I think Harper hopes his government will be brought down before the Liberals can get organized, assuming he'll then get a majority. Or, he hopes he's brought down because he realized he can't stand the job of being accountable to a public that can get nasty when they feel they are being ignored. If you look at his record, he started out as a young Liberal and changed parties and ideas so many times he's finally chosen to just act as an independent with some people following him around believing they belong to his party! The entitled Emerson thinks similarly obviously.
