Terrorist Letter Contains War Plan: U. S.

Posted on Friday, October 07 at 10:19 by 4Canada
Whitman said the letter demonstrates "that there is this detailed planning and intent on the part of the insurgents in Iraq to one day control that country and to really try to extend their extremism to neighbouring countries. It demonstrates to me they clearly understand the importance and significance of the battle in Iraq right now." In the letter, al-Zawahri urges Zarqawi — who has declared war on Iraq's Shiite Muslim majority — to avoid bombing mosques and slaughtering hostages to avoid alienating the masses, Whitman said. He also said that al-Zawahri asked Zarqawi for financial support. Pentagon officials said the letter confirmed the Bush administration's assertions about the roots of the insurgency. It was released last night after a presidential speech geared to revive public support for the war in Iraq, in which Bush said the insurgents want to establish and spread a radical Islamic empire, beginning with Iraq. http://www.thestar.com/NASApp/cs/ContentServer?pagename=thestar/Layout/Article_Type1&c=Article&cid=1128678926043&call_pageid=968332188492&col=968705899037&t=TS_Home

    The Bush administration will do anything to stay in Iraq, even make up a letter from Osama Bien Laden. The American people are finally opening their eyes to this right winged christian bible thumping coke sucking, evil little mman from TEX-ASS.
    The American people have can look forward to paying down the full cost of this war, which should exceed 3 trillion dollars. My question who really owns American now, Japan, China or the Saudi's.. Maybe theBUSH , CHANEY family can loan the American people back some of the taxdollars they pocketed because of this foolish war. Put their kids on the frontline and it will end tomorrow.
    Please, I hope I did not leave the impression with you that I like GW Brush

    LOL. When your lies are falling apart, start telling more lies, and tell them faster. To deal with lies being exposed, tell more lies. Lie your ass off. Most people are to dumbed down, docile and stupidly "Patriotic"(worshipping the government) to accept that we can be lying to them so much. Thier little minds won't allow them to believe, that America could produce a corrupt, evil, lying leader. Not America!! We are the good guys!

    Nevermind the British SRR being CAUGHT posing as insurgents and attacking IRAQI Police Stations in Basara.

    2003
    Saddam tortured people, he is so Evil.

    2004
    We have to torture people to get information on the Evil insurgents. Its not evil to torture when we do it, cause we are the good guys. The Real American Heros!

    What are you talking about? At least 50% of the people in the U.S. disapprove of the Bush Administration's policies and what percentage think he is evil, I don't know, but it is substantial. Ranting about it is just going to give you a heart attack, stroke, or cancer. Mr. A

    You're right; *doing* something about it would be a far better strategy. Sadly, the nature of democracy is such that US citizens must depose their evil leaders all on their own; while we *could* invade their country and set up elections, there would undoubtedly be insurgents who would fight against our better judgement.

    You have a rare gift for missing the point. I said nothing about Canada's government (which is the responsibility of Canadians to improve), merely pointed out the hippocrisy inherent in the situation. I seem to recall that you are American; if you feel that Bush is evil, you should be doing something about it instead of ranting on this website. It is not for Canadians to go in and 'fix' other governments; nor is it the place of Americans.

    *cough* DeLay *cough* Carl Rove *cough*

    No one was saying they were. When our leaders F* up, it's usually not treasonous. Just expensive.

    meanwhile, we are supposed to take the word of this Mr Whitman that it is authentic? If they are going to use this as justification for past/present/future wars, they had better serve up more proof than the assertions of one man. As it is, it seems like yet another convenient lie. <br />
    <br />
    Meanwhile, al-Zarqawi was reported as arrested on january:<br />
    <a href="http://www.chinadaily.com.cn/english/doc/2005-01/04/content_405831.htm">http://www.chinadaily.com.cn/english/doc/2005-01/04/content_405831.htm</a><br />
    <a href="http://www.aljazeera.com/me.asp?service_ID=6517">http://www.aljazeera.com/me.asp?service_ID=6517</a><br />
    <br />
    Did he escape? Were the reports of his capture just plain wrong? Ayman al-Zawahri has also been reported as captured in Pakistan, but evidence for that is lacking. But wait! he was reported as being arrested and in an Iranian jail, according to credible sources:<br />
    <br />
    <a href="http://www.guardian.co.uk/international/story/0,3604,651986,00.html">http://www.guardian.co.uk/international/story/0,3604,651986,00.html</a><br />
    <br />
    But, of course, that capture is also officially denied. <br />
    <br />
    Looking into Mr Bryan Whitman, he's apparently the standard spin guy for the pentagon these days, in charge of refuting claims left right and center. He was in charge of denying any dramatisation of The Rescue of Jessica Lynch ("any claims that the facts of Private Lynch's rescue were misrepresented by the US military were void of all facts and absolutely ridiculous"), despite the comprehensive BBC documentary on exactly that. Some other fun stories where his name crops up:<br />
    <a href="http://www.cnn.com/2005/POLITICS/09/21/abledanger.hearings/">http://www.cnn.com/2005/POLITICS/09/21/abledanger.hearings/</a><br />
    <a href="http://members5.boardhost.com/medialens/msg/264471.html">http://members5.boardhost.com/medialens/msg/264471.html</a><br />
    <a href="http://www.guardian.co.uk/Iraq/Story/0,2763,956255,00.html">http://www.guardian.co.uk/Iraq/Story/0,2763,956255,00.html</a><br />

    <br />
    So, grains of salt all round, especially on any letters to and from supposedly captured terrorist leaders, and anything released by a Public Relations guy specialising in spin.<br />

    And the "Gospel of Jesse" is, my sources are correct and whatever others say is wrong. Those are real credible sources, buddy.

    Um. my sources aren't credible? only one is not a major news outlet, and that one is a reprint of this: <a href="http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/4289518.stm">http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/4289518.stm</a><br />
    <br />
    So, *all* of these stories are from extremely credible sources. Now, let's look at your sources... oh, that's right, you haven't provided any. Well then, I suppose I shall have to assume that your sources must be hidden to protect Homeland Security, and yet another war can be started because one guy says that he once saw a letter that said the stuff he claims it said. Right. <p>---<br>Every time you complain about the moderators, god kills a kitten.

    a) it is the pentagon, not the White House
    b) they haven't produced anything but a PR statement (aka "hot air")
