"Under sharia law, the life of a woman is worth half that of a man," she said. She is calling on Canadians to sign her online petition. Her website is HelpNazanin.com. http://cnews.canoe.ca/CNEWS/Canada/2007/01/10/pf-3277425.html

When I see a story like this being beaten to death, I have to wonder about it, especially when it's about a country that's been targeted for destruction by the USA of Israel.

Perhaps the girl really is guilty of killing the young man. Meanwhile, we see a well publicized campaign to let this girl go free innocent or not, which frankly is none of anyone's business who live outside Iran and have nothing what-so-ever to do with the country or its culture.

Could Nazanin be a Liar?

I signed the petition because I have no use for rapists or attempted rapists. They have forfeited their "membership" in the human race, and their most useful purpose would be as fertilizer.

There's a reason why innocence is assumed unless proven guilty. In the case at hand, we really have no idea what happened, which is why it's gone to court. Poor translations comming from biased news sources along with the demonization of Iran leading up to a war does not help shed light on the situation either.

Agreed! One cannot use any single source for accurate news content.
But in a general sense, I don not like rapists, child molesters, driving under the influence, etc. at all, and have no wish to "rehabilitate" them.
In regards to other nations' treatment of it's citizens, I think Canada as a nation should not trade with any of them in any sense -- once it has cleaned up it's own act.

"I don not like rapists, child molesters, ..."

No one does, except those who are.

"In regards to other nations' treatment of it's citizens, I think Canada as a nation should not trade with any of them in any sense -- once it has cleaned up it's own act."

And it's an act that'll take a heck of a lot to clean up. Meanwhile, Canadian troops (common thugs with hype) are in Afghanistan and Haiti doing what exactly? Oh yeah, overthrowing governments for what reason? Oh yeah, to help the people. In Haiti they voted overwhelmingly in favor of the overthrown government, and in Afghanistan the Taliban gave the people relative peace when before there was none, and now there's no peace yet again, thanks in part to the role the Canadian gov is playing.

These wars are about conquest, nothing else.

What Iran does internally is none of our business. If there's a need for social change in Iran, then its people will have to determine that for themselves, kick and scream as much as you want, but no one else can do it for them.
