Canada, U.S. Need Shared No-Fly List: U.S. Homeland Security

Posted on Friday, June 08 at 11:22 by jensonj
Chertoff's comments came as lawmakers in both the Senate and House of Representatives began hearings into the botched U.S. effort to stop 31-year-old lawyer Andrew Speaker from travelling on a May 24 Czech Airlines flight from Prague to Montreal. Speaker, infected with the extremely dangerous XDR TB, then rented a car from Montreal and drove to the Champlain, N.Y., border crossing, where he was allowed to enter the U.S. by a border guard who ignored a posted traveler alert. Homeland Security had placed Speaker on a U.S. no-fly list only after he was en route to Montreal. "The Canadians could have picked up this individual (before) getting into Canada" if the two countries had a fully integrated system to share information on passengers who pose a health threat, Chertoff said. The U.S. has operated its own no-fly list for years -- one which Canadian airlines have used to flag suspected passengers -- and Ottawa will launch its own list later this month. http://www.canada.com:80/topics/news/national/story.html?id=d759a89a-2a1c-40ff-b15f-87d3cce4ecc9&k=68609

Uh...yeah...like you don't already know all this stuff?

Also, one question: does being responsible for the deaths of tens of thousands count as "posing a health threat"?

If yes, then slap Bush, Cheney, yourself, and the rest of the current Bush administration on that list.

While you're at it, toss Harper and his bunch on it too.

Gotta keep track of all those "health threats" you now.

Excluding, of course, they didn't put him on any 'watch' list. Kinda tough to 'pick him up' of you (the US CDC) don't tell anyone about him. Even before he left the US with a highly deadly form of TB.

Yes they want Canada to share the same no fly list but they don't want Canada to have a say on or have the ability to put on or take off who Canada believes should be on or off it!

Besides the U.S. doesn't recognize Canada's no fly list or Canada's rights and sovereignty anyways.

It is just another means to control Canadians.

Oh joy, it has now become a crime in Canada to be 'suspected' of something by an unaccountable cabal of underworld figures.

We all know what these illegal lists are used for, and it has nothing to do with terrorism or this latest spin attempt that claims it's for health safety reasons.

BTW, despite the absurdity of it, it is still illegal to bring 'liquids' on board a plane. Airport security is a twisted joke, literally speaking: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ykzqFz_nHZE
