PR By The Numbers

I have read somewhere that Preferential voting can be corrupted by the politicians, and since no voting system is perfect, we have to try something. PR is the answer for now, it can be tweaked later if necessary. I'd have to agree with you for the most part, but I think it's a very delicate matter. Canada, for all we want to think otherwise, is made up of very diverse regions and any election scheme that ignores that isn't going to be an improvement. If PR means that Ontario and Quebec wind up drowning out the voices of the East and West even more than it already does, then we haven't progressed much, have we?

Hi anon. I do think PR helps the west as well, because it would help put an end to Liberal rule, would give a party like CAP or the Progressive Canadian Party room to breathe--both parties which would be considered as options in the west as well.
