Candidate Nomination - CAP

Posted on Thursday, May 05 at 08:27 by drcaleb
Fair Trade, protection of the environment, education, public healthcare are some of the issues driving Catherine to seek the support of Macleod Riding's electorate. She goes on to say, "Canadian Action Party is common sense. It isn't a new party, and it isn't corporately funded, so they need strong support from the people. I feel that I have found the echo of my beliefs in CAP. It is so simple. It makes one wonder why politicians try to complicate these matters? We are the government and it is time our views were reflected by our elected members." Whelan Costen is looking forward to exposing the issues and offering a viable alternative. This will be her first attempt to seek a seat as MP, but not her first campaign. Whelan Costen, ran provincially in the last Alberta election in Highwood Riding. [Congratulations Catherine! At the risk of Vive appearing to promote one particular candidate or another, I'm glad to see that one of out own is getting out there and standing up for their values. Dr.C]

Congratulations Catherine for getting the nomination. Getting someone in there to voice CAP concerns is a welcome relief in this conservative political desert of Alberta.

Good luck to you Catherine! Nothing would be better for Canada than to see you elected, particularly in Alberta! Give 'em hell! I have too many family committments at this time to run for public office, but I am still hoping I may be able to do so in future. This next government promises to be another relatively short-lived minority anyway, but I sure hope you are part of it in some way!

Thanks, I'll do my best. It will be a struggle no doubt, but if I can get the issues out there, I will be able to sleep at night, after the election of course. ha ha

I know what you mean Rural, and although I would like the results from the Gomery, I don't need it to tell me that there is corruption in the Liberal party, but I would like to know how deep it goes, and I would like to see changes but in place to prevent this type of scandal from happening again. The reality is that these are the same people who just ran in the last election, with the full knowledge of the people about the corruption, what has changed, we know the same today as we did when they were elected, not much?

Too much power in the PMO, and too much reliance on lobbyist, corportions, and think tanks, and not enough common sense. Really it doesn't take a genius to know you ought to read and understand trade deals etc, before you sign on behalf of the country, or any other deals made with our money. They wouldn't blindly sign a contract if it meant money out of their own pockets, so why do it with ours?

You talked the talk very well. Now you'll get a chance at walking the walk. I'm sure you'll be a great MP! You are a very courageous person. Good luck and Godspeed!

No counting chickens, while I'm still in the egg stage, but thanks for the comments. I would love to me given the opportunity to walk the walk, really and truly, we need a big shake up and hopefully many candidates who really believe in this country, and not the political power, prestige or ego trip, which is unwarranted. I am hoping that this election will bring in a great number of new MP's, with new ideas, but good old fashioned values, because it will take a few to do the job, a few good people! I hope we can do it.

We need to return the government to being a reflection of the people, not us, the slaves of their desires. I'd love to see some of that passion that urged our citizens to go to war, to fight in WWI and II, and work here in Canada for peace, returned to the people. I don't mean a desire to go to war, because I don't believe anyone had that, but the passion to stand up for this country and what is right!

I will NOT be voting for you ... but only because I live in rural Ontario and won't have the privilege. I would if I could.

    Best of luck, Catherine.
