Paul Martin Angry

Posted on Friday, November 21 at 08:27 by Jim Callaghan
Apparently the Bloc has run a radio campaign in Quebec reminding everyone about Paul Martin's CSL life before politics. If this has Mr. Martin flaming angry, who does he have to blame but himself ?

Perhaps he should have thought about that before he entered politics.

The pressure is mounting.

I see a movement building against Martin & the Liberals\' bid for a 4th consecutive term! Martin\'s past is catching up with him & it will become clear that the Martin Liberals will be much different from the Chretien Liberals. This couldn\'t be happening at a better time! Not a moment too soon!

But, N Say, who do we elect? I heard the lunatics at the NPI say they are disbanding, because they like the NDp\'s direction. You said you heard it might happen AFTER THE COMING ELECTION. Any chance this causes a united-left-of centre party or coalition to happen in time for the next election?

Martin could be to the Liberals what Kim Campbell was to the PC\'s; with the exception that THEY did it to her, and Martin has cooked this one himself!!!!

Mel Hurtig said he thought that there would be one big progressive party after/if the NDP got few votes this election.

Who to vote for? -CANADIAN ACTION PARTY!!! We can`t wait until after the next election! The CAP is the only party right now that wants to save CANADA! Let`s quit stalling, and vote for who we know is right, instead of thinking that our vote is wasted because they don`t have a chance! If we all voted for them, they would have a chance! People voted like that in the Ontario election, thinking that the NDP \'didn`t have a chance\' to unseat the PC`s, and now, Dalton McGuinty is reneging on all of his election promises. He`s lifting the cap off of hydro, to \'reflect the true price\', but hydro is not a commodity, it`s a neccessity, so the real cost should reflect that reality. He also is going back on his word to stop P3 hospitals, whixh threatens public health care. He also went back on his word to halt development on the Oak Ridges Moraine, an ecological jewel north of Toronto. And given that Dalton says he had \'no idea\' of the size of the deficit left by the \'fiscally responsible\' tories, we can expect to see more deterioration in health care and education! Wonderful! -All this after rich folks and corporations got their tax cuts!

1 - Actually Dave, I did vote NDP in the Ontario election.

2 - The CAP has no candidate chosen in my riding.

3 - I meant who can we vote for that has a GOOD chance of getting elected. I, personally, will probably vote CAP, but I can tell you that most people under 50 have never heard of Paul Hellyer and the CAP. I would prefer a new party or coalition.

4 - As for Dalton McGuinty and the Ontario Liberals, they say that hospitals may reduce service, and schools may have to close, (have to my ass) because the debt is so high. Technically, they could start at square one, and add the 5.6 billion to the long-term debt, (in the hundreds of billions.) As for the Oak Ridges Moraine, the land south of the Moraine has mostly been paved over, and was much better farmland than the moraine itself. There is very little forest left on the moraine. The topsoil is good, but thinner than the land to the south. The land around 2 prominent kettle lakes (especially Bond Lake) is being ruined by housing development. As for Lake Wilcox, it has had houses on it for years, and the lawn fertilizers has damaged the lake so much, that a machine artificially pumps oxygen into the water to keep the lake alive. It\'s disgusting. The Liberals are generally pro-development, even more-so than the Tories were, in some cases. They DIDN\'T have to pay 300 million in compensation to the developers. The houses aren\'t built yet. They could expropriate the land, and pay the LAND VALUE. (without houses) It\'s the fault of the developers that they assumed they\'d get their way.

5 - The developers were scum to begin with, even pursuing the area......that\'s why I\'m happy/annoyed that my Argonauts were purchased by a slime-bag, house-builder and Canadian Alliance supporter.

I don\'t know how it can be done, but I do think the major problem is not enough publicity. When Mel Hurtig was involved in the NATIONAL party, they couldn\'t get heard no matter what, and so they failed! This negative Martin info that has begun is good and also it is bringing attention to Jack Layton, but we need something more that will make people pay attention so that when we vote people don\'t think they will be voting for a losing team. For some strange reason that seems to be a factor, I want to back a winner, no matter if the winner will make us all losers in the end.

I like Paul Hellyer\'s positions and I did not know him from the past, but by researching the CAP and him, I have found a person true to my own interests and so if there is a candidate I would certainly vote for them. Jack Layton is the alternative as far as I can see, but there are a few issues that I am not convinced yet that he will be strong enough to fight the other parties, he is showing promise lately and I think it was pure genius to set up the website, \'flyourflag\'!

Some have said that the NDP hasn\'t been tested so we don\'t know what we\'ll get; but I say, the other parties have been tested and failed so what exactly do we have to lose? Perhaps if the NDP won a majority not large, but enough that could make a difference and vote out the NAFTA, WTO etc., and the people keep up the pressure, we might have a chance. Unless the CAP joins with the NDP, then the NDP alone would be my choice; this is what I would see as the best chance for Canada, given the alternatives.

But I doubt that canadians will give the NDP many votes since they think they\'re too left or big spenders. The more votes the CAP and Green Party get and the less votes NDP gets, the more likely there will be one big party. So I will vote for CAP.

NO! They have the IMAGE of being (way) left wing & big (ie irresponsible) spenders, but Paul Hellyer said that Jack Layton is the only one who knows that the only real way to pay for everything is to tell the banks to pay for 1/2. That\'s how they\'ll kill their image as \'deficit party\' but I still think they should team up with the CAP, Green party & the rest. Some people won\'t vote NDP just because of their name IMO.

We should all know the reason that Paul Hellyer and Mel Hurtig are having trouble getting media attention; the fact is the Asper empire of Global TV and the Southam newspapers, as well as the National Post, will not carry anything but radical right-wing editorials.

Pity the editor that crosses them as we have seen in the past.

We have to find another way, and I have had good success having letters printed in my local papers, but we have a small population.

I think the Internet is probably the best way at the moment, by contacting everyone you know, send them links to FVC, CAP, ViveLeCanada, and any other webpages that make our point.

Another way is to bring the books The Vanishing Country and One Big Patry to their attention. Ask them to pass on these links to everyone in their address book that they feel would be interested in researching these materials.

I personally am going to purchase several One Big Party books and give them as presents over the holidays.

I\'m afraid I don\'t have the coin to give a bunch of Vanishing because of it\'s extra cost, but these books in combination are great to get the juices flowing.

I did see Mel Hurtig on Vicki Gabreau (sp?) soon after he published Vanishing, so there are ways to get TV time. I am disappointed that CPAC didn\'t schedule Paul Hellyer for an interview when he was in Ottawa recently, and I sent them an email letting them know they missed a good opportunity. Perhaps everyone should contact CPAC to see if we can get them to speed things up.

One more thing: if we could get the provincial teams that lost their bid in the recent elections to swing over to the One Big Party idea, then they could place candidates in many ridings across the country, they already have the volunteers in place.

We don\'t have much time to do this before Paul Martin calls the next election, but that would be the quickest way to get visibility. I have personally called Earl Manners, who was running for the NDP in my riding in Ontario, but I am having trouble locating his phone number &/or email address. His email address on his election webpage is no longer working.

This is a setback, but I\'m working on it.

I`ve also been distributing CAP pamphlets and leaflets throughout my riding which is basically the southern Niagara Peninsula, and whenever I go to see family and friends in the Windsor area, I`ve been making stops along the way and distributing these leaflets and pamphlets all along the north shore of Lake Erie. Perhaps some of you who support the CAP could do the same thing? If you e-mail them asking for pamphlets, they`ll mail you some to be distributed.

I am all for the CAP but will they have a candidate in every riding, what do you do if they don\'t? Kinda hard to vote for a party that doesn\'t have a candidate? I am not saying it couldn\'t be done, but boy do we need media on this!
