PC's Not Dead - Yet

Jean Chretien takes credit for winning 3 majority's in a row, but he did it every 3 1/2 years, when he saw the opposition had no chance. Do you not think Martin will take advantage of this ?? You bet. He's a politician, right ?? Politicians take advantage of situations that present themselves. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. I included the email below: ************************** On Tue, 30 Mar 2004 00:42:58 -0800, jdowson@life-trust.com wrote: Thanks for your inquiry. I will be getting back to you shortly. John Dowson Executive Director LifeTRUST Planning 1 (800) 638-7256 To Joe Hueglin and the new Progressive Conservative party: I was sent an info packet on starting a riding association for the old Tories with a centrist Progressive Party of Canada campaign at http://www.progressiveparty.ca from a worker who I think works for the CCAFT but is that yours too? In Grey-Bruce-Owen Sound, the Riding President could be Cheryl Ann Meagher of Owen Sound, a Social Democrat and former David Orchard organizer in the area, the Riding Vice-President could be Milan Radan of Durham, a Social Democrat and past Canadian Democratic Movement supporter in the region, the Riding Candidate could be John H. Long of Hanover, a Red Tory, former Progressive Conservative leadership candidate for in 1993 and founder of the Common Sense People's Party of Ontario, and the Youth President could be Joshua E. Eriksen of Chatsworth, a Classic Conservative and past chair of the John A. MacDonald Tories wing in the OPCYA. The only concern I have is the name Progressive Canadian, I truly wish we could retain the old name Progressive Conservative and run an election under the PCPC banner as in their home riding's leader John Diefenbaker did. We just want to run a progressive, common sense, not neo-conservative alternative to the Liberals who are 100% Pro-Canadian, that's it and that's all! Whichever group/campaign/party that can allow Long, Eriksen and others in Grey-Bruce-Owen Sound to retain that proud tradition of Johnny Canuck nationalism, we are all ears to that and a whole lot more!!! P.S. - Current contact information for the Grey-Bruce-Owen Sound Progressive Conservative Party of Canada candidate is: John H. Long 481 11TH ST Hanover, Ont., Can. This reminds me of the sign I saw on a bathroom wall in a bar in Montana. It was a western bar with a dirt floor and each table had a bowl of peanuts still in their shells. The patrons were encouraged to throw the shells on the floor.
Anyway the sign said "Volunteers wanted, we urgently need 125,000 people to move out of the state of Montana so that we can get rid of another useless Senator"!

That just about sums it up.

    Hi Jim

Let's not get to carried away here. This may be the start of that one Big Party that everyone was talking about. As I said in other posts it doesn't have to be the NDP to start this off. Maybe we should try and get CAP together with the Progressive Canadian Party to see if we can start putting this one big party together.

I think if we can get this done and articulate policies I am sure we will pick up a number of members of the NDP, Green and members from other parties.

JimmyD,
I would like to suggest that you send an email to the new leader of the Canadian Action Party, Connie Fogal. conniefogal@telus.net
Maybe emailing her and giving your suggestions wouldn't hurt. Just to see what kind of response you get from her.
Kevin

Well, I just had a phone call tonight from John Long, who is instrumental in getting this party off the ground.

He has some excellent ideas and one of which is to work with the municipalities, and get support from their politicians.

Another is to form the party with a 50/50 balance of men/women, and I think this has great possibilities.

It may be some time before we have another election, so this could work.

A coalition of CAP and others could make this work.

    For more info, contact johnlong@sympatico.ca

Also, if anyone needs all the info on elections you ever dreamed of, call 1-800-463-6868 and ask for Elaine Martel.

She has books of stats that could be of some use to us.

As the title says, the PC's or whatever name we end up with are not dead yet.

Stay tuned, it's getting exciting. Again !!

BTW, they had several candidates running in the last election, so they are quite serious.

This is a "progressive" party, completely different from the other parties we now have in power and opposition.

As well, they are into monetary reform and forcing the banks to hold back reserves, something Bullroney let them reduce to zero.

This is good policy, at least it's a good start.

    Possibilities, my head is spinning.

    JimmyD, you were right.

The leader of this party should be a populist, and we don't have any of those currently in parliament.

We should have looked closer back when it could have made a difference in the last election. We could still move forward from this point on.

One more thing, I didn't take this post seriously until I got that phone call, so look into it.

This is the 2nd time John Long has called me, the last time was many months ago, so I apologize for ignoring it.

This is a possible real direction to slash and burn those that are trying to give our country to the US.

Of course, that would be harper and martin, among many others.

No Way to a North American NAFTA + agreement. That's just asking for trouble.
