Harper Pressed For Even Closer Economic, Military, Geopolitical Ties To USA

Posted on Saturday, September 23 at 12:35 by BC Mary
This argument was coupled to a call for the US elite to pay greater heed to Canada’s contribution to the buttressing of US power, including by adjusting US policy in accordance with Canadian demands in a handful of areas, and to repeated emphatic assertions of Canada’s geo-political importance and determination to be a force in world affairs. Harper introduced the main body of his address with a question: “Why, ladies and gentlemen, in a turbulent and uncertain world, when our economy and our security are affected by developments in far-off lands, should you focus your attention and your energies on Canada?” Most of the remainder of Harper’s speech was meant to provide an answer, but the crux and tone of his argument was indicated in the next two paragraphs. “Because Canada is ... a stable and positive force for good,” a state, moreover, that “has much to bring to the table in chaotic and trying times” and that is determined to be “a player” on the world stage. Harper then highlighted “three things Canada has to offer the US.” “First, a strong and robust economy and, in particular, an energy industry that is increasingly one of the most important in the world; “Second, a strong partnership in building both a more competitive and more secure North America; “And third, a common will to advance, in concert with our democratic allies, our shared values and interests throughout the world.” www.wsws.org/articles/2006/sep2006/harp-s23.shtml [Proofreader's note: this article was edited for spelling and typos on September 25, 2006]

The good news is: Our military are getting new uniforms and the "Canada" insignia will ne held on with felcro. A new rank structure will follow and the term "Sub-" will preceed the existing ranks. Shoe shine kits will be issued to all ranks and the proper pronounciation of "Bush" will be taught to all members. Canadians will be required to lower our flag at half-mast whenever another American solder is injured/ killed, envolved in friendly fire or employed in the invasion of any foreign country. (Including Canada) All Canadians will receive free of charge, tattooed numbers on their forhead. Mr Harper will guarantee your personal freedoms as he see's fit.

Come on that's old tech, we should NOT stand for anything less than having those new surgically inserted RFID tags! But if we have to pay for them, then I'll settle for the free tattoo.

The incredible ignorance and stupidity of the political mind should never be underestimated.

Empires come and go. How many people have ever heard of the Avar, Kun, Hungarian, Polish etc. etc. empires. Who were the Huns? Where are the Mongols? Virtually all European nations have at one point been empires and paid heavily for it. They burned out and self destructed.

Attaching ourselves to the coat tails of an already dying empire has to be the stupidest things any politician can work for. But then, Harper's intelligence could also never be overestimated.

In any case, a nation that accepts the Phillips head screw as a production tool can never be an empire !!!! How that piece of garbage technology ever made it off the drawing board will remain one of history's great mysteries.

Robertson: behold the power of the squarehead!

Speaking of "head", maybe Harper should get himself a pair of Monica Lewinsky knee protectors, and a plastic bib.

We wouldn't want him soiling his blue suits now, would we?

And before anyone gets all bent out of shape about my use of the term squarehead: I am one by virtue of a mixed german/swedish/scottish/french and english heritage.

When Harper grovels like this and basically says "What a good boy am I?", I just want to hurl. He wants to be a major player but he isn't playing with HIS toys! I am sick to my stomach right now because of humiliation at Canada having these subhumans in our Parliament buildings. I have such a hard time imagining that anyone listening to him that actually has any self-esteem of their own not just recoiling at his cloying ways. YUK!

And he sure if pushing the NAU in this speech as well.
