    Entertainment....ryyyyyttttteee.

Actually, the modern television is most effectively used for marketing, inducing millions of North Americans to become addict consumers of cheap throw-away products.

The secondary aim is propaganda, which I believe, was the primary aim of releasing a two part 'Docu-drama' (like Americans know the difference) on the 5 year anniversary of the event.

There are numerous examples of how television has re-written modern history by simply presenting fiction at the most opportune time. The public watches it and it becomes ingrained in their collective subconscious as fact. Saddam has the bomb. Saddam and Osama are buddies. Ring any bells?

There have also been extensive studies on the link between violence and television viewing. The American love affair with the cowboy (Gunsmoke) and the mafia crime boss (The Sopranos) are clear examples, and we see this reflected today in the attitudes and behavior of our young people.

Television was only very briefly, in it's inception, primarily concerned with 'entertainment'.

The airing of this program will now engraine, in a large percentage of the American population, that the Clinton administration was just too soft on terrorism (as opposed to militarily destroying and conquering the world, which is SO MUCH BETTER) and that we got to 911 from mistakes and dropped balls within the Clinton Administration. Makes a nice luncheon topic at a GOP convention, but it has no place in factual history.

That ABC chose to air this program as is, despite massive public and political outcry, is one sad state of current affairs for government manipulation of corporate media.

Well they might as well have produced it as "fiction" anyway, after all 9/11, as has been told, is a fairy tale.

As I said............a lot of "entertainment". If there are those who think what they see is true, well, they likely thought there is a Gilligan's Island out there somewhere.........

That's hilarious... even my 10 year old son knows the aim of every toy commercial, and how it is trying to manipulate him. There is no debate on the influence of television, radio, and print media on the attitudes of the common masses. How do you think the US government convinced all those people to support an illegal invasion of a foreign country on a false pretext?

I'll tell you. Daily bombardment of FEAR. Anthrax, SARS, killer bees, crib death, car jackers and other crimes, all committed by blacks btw, and now, TERRORISTS.

All designed to create an illusion of danger, requiring a safety mechanism. The solution to the Terrorist fear, is presented as invading a country that's just full of 'em. Or something. Bombing some guy who hates us, yeah, that's it.

All designed to distract you from the REAL threats to your safety and life:

    1. Driving in your car
    2. Living, eating, breathing in your toxic polluted environment, courtesy of the government supported corporations in your country
    3. Old age

So don't sit there all smugly and tell me your smarter than all that. It's pure POISON, the fact that you sit there and watch it and think your immune is only demonstrating your gulibility. If you were SMART, you'd limit your exposure and stick to the documentary channel.

I do enjoy watching someone have a nervous breakdown when they are asked what they think are hard questions when the questions are actually quite soft.

I've never actually seen that, unless you mean watching Bill O'Reilly yell "SHUT UP!!!" at someone.

Try watching the international edition of BBC News, the one they show Germans and British and French people, as opposed to the watered-down version we get here.

It was VERY amusing watching an Israeli official try to defend their action of bombing the last functioning civilian power plant in Gaza:

"So the terrorists couldn't move around in the dark"

The BBC interviewer than proceeded to tear the guy's bowels out with an all-out assault, as he deserved, for such a ridiculous and inane statement, and their deliberate targetting of civilian infrastructure, clearly intended to impose further harship on the civilians in Gaza.

Or the BBC female no less, interviewer, who took on the Israeli official and her official explanation for how they found it necessary to bomb an apartment building in Qana, Lebanon.

"Because Hezbollah had rockets positioned there".

The interviewer then proceeded to tear the IDF spokeswoman limb from limb on how many reporters were there before and after the attack and saw no Hezbollah rockets, and how you can't mount rocket launchers from apartment buildings anyway, what are you, nuts? To which she replied,
    "well, it was an accident..."

    to which the interviewer replied,

So you managed to hit an apartment full of people with your wonderful precision guided weapons you have been talking about for the last week, BY ACCIDENT???

It was sheer joy to watch. Unfortunately, I do not have free access to those clips on my televsion, I had to find it on the Internet.

Exactly. You can't handle the truth, so you hide and refuse to look, hiding your head. Keep watching your Fox News and CNN, and your CBC now, under the Harper government. You will be instructed on how to correctly think. You will obey this, and be happy and content in your life.
