An American Journalist's View Of Harper

Posted on Wednesday, October 18 at 10:38 by 4Canada
To someone who has covered U.S. politics for three decades, there was a shock of recognition. Standing out starkly against the bland traditions of Canadian governance was the pugnacious 'tude of American political combat, wedge issues pounded in with a zeal that put the goal of winning and holding power over everything else. It was as if a virus that had long infected the people south of the border had overnight jumped containment and spread northward establishing itself in a new host population. But — as I began to study this new phenomenon — it became clear that this infection did not just accidentally break quarantine. Rather, it was willfully injected into the Canadian body politic by conservative strategists and right-wing media moguls who had studied the modern American model and were seeking to replicate it. Canada's Prime Minister Stephen Harper even brought in Republican advisers, such as political consultant Frank Luntz, to give pointers on how the ruling Conservative Party could become as dominant in Canada as the GOP is in the United States. http://www.rabble.ca/politics.shtml?sh_itm=96ea8d831f53196ffbf2b536241afe53&rXn=1&; [Proofreader's note: this article was edited for spelling and typos on October 19, 2006]

Just as my resolve toward our most illustriuos leader had waned, I found another reason to vote against this man. Shamefully, I did not heed the discourse espouced by my eastern counterparts and did "vote for change" in the last election. As most canadians, watching how and where the "NEW" governments focus and agendas build upon one another will cause us to decide what is right and proper.

Ultimately, most illustriuos leader Mr.Harper is showing his affinity to the US right of right wing agendas. We cannot allow Canada to become any more of a copy of the US than we can allow our resolve for what is right go unhindered. Is it right to not criticize government when they are going against "Our" views? Responsibility to government accountability is "Our" job as citizens and as long as we say that is the governments job we shirk our duties and right to voice "Our" concerns.

The internet, being constructed of all these tubes and pipes, ties directly into the constituents offices. Take 5 minutes out of your week and say your peace to your elected official about what your concerns are. If you do not then how is your government to be held accountable?

It surely hasn't taken long for Harper to lose support for the conservatives in its "New" constituencies. Lumber was a sticking point where I live and the lack of resolve for a good deal will cause many here to vote NDP, again.

The above is an excellent analysis of what the conspiracy of the crazies of the "religious right", combined with the neoclassical market economic theory, helped along by the professional military, are planning to do.

This scenario is the most common line through history, where all past and present ruling classes have been put into and maintained in power by the conspiracy of the above three. Only the colour of the flags are changed, the intents and the results are always the same.

Harper is part both of the economist and the religionist groups of nuts, so his plans and actions are completely predictable, as were those of Bush, when the article was written in early 2004. Everything is moving by the prescribed timetable, while the opposition and the public are asleep.
Ed, you are absolutely correct.

Dominionism is one of the vilest and most subtle heresies currently moving through North American churches. It is especially successful in churches where one of the cornerstone doctrines is obedience to the pastor.

I've never been afraid to ask pastors difficult questions, and the honest ones will address them to the best of their ability.

The ones I find the most difficult to talk to are the ones who take even the smallest question asked of them as a challenge to their authority.

I guess I can understand why though, no one of that sort ever likes to have their positions questioned by someone who is not intimidated by their titles.

For the most part the churches in question are generally lumped together as being "fundimentalist".

This, in my opinion, is an interesting use of the word since if the churches in question really were based on what Jesus taught, and did, they would see Dominionism for what it truly is: a man made religio-political machine.

This heresy is the selfsame one that brought us the Spanish Inquisition as well as that series of attrocities known as the Crusades.

It is an utter bastardization and corruption of what the "Kingdon of God" among men, as taught by Christ, is supposed to be.

I do not imagine that God is overly pleased with these people committing murder, cheating, lying, stealing, waging unjust wars, and other crimes in His name.

No, I do not imagine God is anywhere near even remotely pleased with it at all.

Just how many Canadians are aware. We ourselves are going through a metamorphosis. There is no longer "politically correct". We have reverted back to biogtry, greed and rudness. Children are no longer taught to be polite and quite frankly, we are behaving like Americans. People are glad to be working again and having money in their pockets. Be damned anything that prevents them from "getting ahead". Canadians have been selling their sole long before Harper. Harper is showing us what we are becoming and it's time for us to change ourselves. If Harper is ever re-elected, Canadians had better keep their mouths shut, listen and obey.

Our society certainly does seem to have changed. Here in Alberta $$$$ is king. That's all anyone cares about, even over family. If this is what Canada has become, then we certainly can't be accused of being polite and courteous people any more.

Choosing money over family - it doesn't get any more American than that!

By making money the priority, the Government keeps its citizens in perpetual conflict, therefore, keeping them in check. The last thing the Government wants is a unified population, since this is obviously a threat to their master slavery plan. Without knowing it, people have already become slaves to the mighty dollar.

By the way, excellent article. Shows exactly how much hatred Harper has towards Canadians. And how stupid the people actually are for electing a traitor to office.

As for those two media a-holes McPhereson and Kay, maybe they should just leave Quebecistan and move to Oilberta. They would have more success peddling their garbage to the rednecks out there.
