But she prefers sex worker. Because it's work, she says. Especially all the laundry.
"If I told you the amount of laundry I did, you'd be, like, flabbergasted," Kuzyk says.
After starting on the streets at 17, for the past 10 years she's been a call-girl specializing in domination. She's also become known as the public voice of Toronto's prostitutes, having spent the past 15 years championing sex workers' rights and doing outreach with the advocacy group the Sex Workers Alliance of Toronto.
Kuzyk, 38, is perfectly content with her chosen profession, and as a Canadian living in the 21st century, so should you, she says.
"I'm okay with what I do," Kuzyk says. "The problem is, people aren't okay with what I do. I'm comfortable in my own skin. And for people to tell me I'm not, and for people to tell me what's happening to me is abuse -- no."
