UN denounces Israel's cluster bombs
Cluster bombs are causing injuries and deaths daily, the UN says
The UN's humanitarian chief has accused Israel of "completely immoral" use of cluster bombs in Lebanon.
UN clearance experts had so far found 100,000 unexploded cluster bomblets at 359 separate sites, Jan Egeland said.
Israel has repeated its previous insistence that munitions it uses in conflict comply with international law.

The primary purpose of the cluster bomb is 'area denial'. You saturate an enemy position with hundreds of 'mini-mines', making it impossible for them to move around without setting them off. It is essentially an air-delivered anti-personel minefield, and is just one of the many horrific ways we have invented to kill our brother. There are many that are far worse - just thank God they didn't use any fuel-air explosives!
The issue here is that they used an area effect weapon in a dense civilian urban environment.
I personally think all mines should be classified as weapons of mass destruction, for just this reason. Much like radiation, they linger behind in the battlefield for years after the conflict, killing mostly farmers and children. This is still a huge problem in Vietnam, and in Bosnia.
Mines should be designed with deactivation timers. They can be re-initialized by an encoded radio signal, or immediately deactivated as well. If forced to leave an area, the mine layers would know the pre-set time when the field would automatically shut down. They could send a drone over it with the re-activation signal if they didn't want that to happen. They would need to be designed to make it all but impossible for the enemy to easily get the passkey, obviously.
But come on. With today's technology, EASILY DONE. The only problem is, mines are bought in bulk, and they would be EXPENSIVE with this technology. So people shopping for mines would buy the cheapo 'explode only' ones off those countries that refused to put the technology in.
It always boils back down to money. What a sick world.

“The war is not meant to be won, it is meant to be continuous, the essential act of warfare is the destruction of the produce of human labour”
Throughout history, all wars are fought for economic gain alone. The other reasons given are nothing but lies, used to generate public support for the killing effort. Take away the profits, and suddenly there's peace.
The ONLY reason why there's so much conflict in the ME, as opposed to elewhere in the world, is due to the large reserves of crude oil. Peace will come only after the oil finally runs out, or when cheaper alternatives are found, whichever comes first.
How much profit is a childs life worth? The sicko profit mongers who own cluster bomb companies obviously don't give a shit who their bombs kill.
If this is not a crime against humanity I don't know what is. At the very least the country responsible for dropping these bombs, together with the country that supplied them, should be made to clean them up. Of course NOTHING of the sort will happen. Is there any organisation in existance that can force the Israeli/American alliance to do anything?.

It is indeed a very unusual situation, where Israel somehow manages to get the USG to give it billions in aid (which includes a great deal of military hardware and know-how including nuclear weapons), and in turn it uses a portion of the billions to bribe US government officials into continuing their unquestioning support, thus keepng the flow going over many years. All the while, the corruption is in plain sight of the American people, yet for some reason, they seem unable or unwilling to do anything about it.
Justice will not be denied.
What Bush and his ilk utterly fail to realize is the the law does not, and cannot, protect anyone.
The law can only punish after the fact.
And justice will prevail, even if it takes a lone gunman to do it.
Not all justice is administered by courts and judges.
Bush will find this out the hard way.
His judge, jury, and executioner are already out there.
Bush' "god" such as it is, is NOT the God of Justice.
And no laws drafted by man will prevent His vengence.
Bush is a dead man walking, and he knows it. Otherwise his attempts at hiding behind the skirts of justice would never have been attempted.

I wish you to be right in your assessment, however-
What one MUST grasp and grasp fully is that when man made laws are relied upon there will only be just us or just ice. In other words mans law is rigged (see my post on the “Controlling the Masses: From Religion to Bernays” thread)
If one is waiting for divine intervention I strongly suggest they not hold their hand over their ass in the process.
While we sit on our butts in vain hope some ethereal intervention will mete out divine justice much damage is done.
Or is the universe unfolding as it should?

Only the stars will ever know what horror was done on 911.
Lone gunmen are overrated. When the Secret Service actually is on the job, and not called off, like they were in Dallas, they actually do their job quite well.
Not a damn thing is going to change, until the lazy fat complacent American people get their asses off the couch and start getting shot dead in the streets while marching on Washington with burning torches and pitchforks...
There ya go
A Klingon proverb, a mention of the JFK conspiracy AND the 911 one, AND a call for revolution, all in one post! Damn that's good.

Not all religious types (read: Christians) have bought the right wing religio-political crap being spewed out by some members of both the clergy and politicians.
Sadly the churches have been silent in matters they should have been protesting loudly.
But in the end, be we religious or not, the choice and the responsibility for action belongs to each of us, and not to a church, a politcal party, a government, or any other collection of people.
That being said, it is an impossible task for one person to do alone.
If enough of us care enough to cross the boundaries that keep us both divided and conquered, and unite in a common purpose with a common voice and tell the bastards who are doing these deeds in OUR name to stop, they will listen.
Their greatest asset, and our greatest weakness, is division within the population.
You don't have to believe in God, or a god, to do what is right by your fellow man.
