NDP Agitating In BC Also!

Posted on Friday, March 26 at 08:45 by N Say
The show of disdain for MacPhail and the NDP came 24 hours after the opposition raised questions about alleged "inappropriate behaviour" by Coquitlam-Maillardville MLA Richard Stewart involving a staff member during a Liberal convention in Penticton two years ago.

....

When MacPhail questioned Health Services Minister Colin Hansen about privacy protection for B.C. residents against the U.S. Patriot Act, Hansen refused to answer until she apologized.

When MacPhail did not do that, Collins stood up, waved an arm at the rest of cabinet and they vacated the house en masse, leaving only a handful of members to heckle MacPhail.

I'm glad Joy apologized. I just hope she'll keep fighting and make the Liberals expose their disciplinary actions.

    Statement from Opposition House Leader
The following statement was issued today by NDP Opposition House Leader, Joy MacPhail

VANCOUVER— Following the events of yesterday, I have consulted with my colleague Jenny Kwan and Party Leader Carole James, and we’ve agreed that it serves the public interest for me to offer a full unqualified apology to MLA Richard Stewart. I’m doing that today.

It’s clear to me, after some time to think dispassionately about the events of the past two days outside the pressure cooker environment of the Legislature, that I need to apologize to Mr. Stewart. I extend that apology not only to Mr. Stewart but to his family as well.

The public interest cannot be served if the Liberals’ bullying tactics in the Legislature are continued. With this apology there is no excuse if they are continued.

Jenny and I have been asking very tough questions of the government in recent weeks about the secretive internal discipline and suspensions of government caucus members. This issue that was brought to our attention by Kevin Krueger’s statements to the media after Elayne Brenzinger left the Liberal caucus and that whole issue still requires answers.

For the past three years, Jenny Kwan and I have worked hard to hold this government to account. We are very proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish on behalf of the British Columbians who have been harmed by this government’s policies.

It’s clear that we will not be able to continue our work holding this government to account if the Liberals continue to boycott the Legislature I trust that we can now move forward and continue with the public’s business.

Jenny Kwan and Joy McPhail are martyrs for the BC citizens. Man I don't know how they do it. Gary Collins and Kevin Krueger, (he's my stinking MLA), certainly could use some diplomacy lessons as well it seems. They sound terrified they'll NEVER, EVER GET ELECTED AGAIN IN ANOTHER GOVERNMENT POSITION AS LONG AS THEY LIVE don't they? Krueger saying what Joy did was "despicable"! Ha! When despicable Campbell was charged in Hawaii with despicable drunk driving and blamed his despicable behaviour on his "poor me" childhood experiences with full backing from the rest of his despicable party they all lost any credibility I ever had for any of them.

I really could care less about someones hurt feeling in legislasure, that
in itself is laughable, work it out on your own time guys. What about the
importance iof BC citizens's privacy, what about that, lets stay with the
relevant issues of the day and enough with the antics of the Liberals.
Do you want just anyone to have your personal information? Thats
whats on the Liberals agenda, privitization of your personel information.
Phone your MLA, phone your MP, talk about it, let others know how you
feel about your personal information being up for grabs. And ladies of
    the NDP your not helping.
