World Faces Hottest Year

Posted on Tuesday, January 02 at 12:56 by Ed Deak
Combined, they are set to bring extreme conditions across the globe and make 2007 warmer than 1998, the hottest year on record. It is likely temperatures will also exceed 2006, which was declared in December the hottest in Britain since 1659 and the sixth warmest in global records. Professor Jones said: "El Niño makes the world warmer and we already have a warming trend that is increasing global temperatures by one to two tenths of a degrees celsius per decade. Together, they should make 2007 warmer than last year and it may even make the next 12 months the warmest year on record." The warning of the escalating impact of global warming was echoed by Jim Hansen, the American scientist who, in 1988, was one of the first to warn of climate change. In an interview with The Independent, Dr Hansen predicted that global warming would run out of control and change the planet for ever unless rapid action is taken to reverse the rise in carbon emissions. http://news.independent.co.uk/environment/article2116873.ece [Proofreader's note: this article was edited for spelling and typos on January 4, 2007]

2005 was the hottest, 2006 was close, 2007 forcasted to be the hottest yet. Yet in 2010 nothing major will have been done and it will be too late. Makes me wonder if I should have children or just enjoy life while the getting on is good?

Makes me wonder why I should believe what these guys have to say. Where is the analysis of what chemtrails is doing to the weather? I didn't see any chitchat about HAARP either, why not. No mention of the sun increasing in brightness or of the increase in solar storms either. Hmmm, how strange. All we are to look at is greenhouse gas emissions. Why? What is the agenda here? They (the UN)have no intention of turning loose the patents on energy efficient devices or of requiring corporations to lessen their output of pollutants. Corporations are allowed to relocate willy nilly to countries that have no environmental legislation to speak of and which are allowed high levels of polution because they are developing. What kind of two bit scam is this.

The best solution to our problems would be to dump the ruling class and all of their self serving systems before they dump us.

Global warming didn't hit Whistler this year. They are having a banner year out there in terms of snow. They have a 3m base. <br />

Meanwhile in the world of reality... European ski hills are facing economic ruin in the next decade as more and more of them are unable to open when they once did, or even open at all.

One ski hill in one season doesn't discount global warming.

Jesus Roy, you need to go on decaf. Who said anything about discounting global warming? Hell, part of global warming is shifting weather patterns. In this case, no snow in Europe or Eastern Canada and a ton of it in Western Canada and the Western US.
