Canadians Urged To Take The 10-Tonne Challenge - Drop 10 Tonnes Of Conservatives

Posted on Saturday, October 21 at 10:47 by BC Mary
This calculation led to the Ten Tonne Challenge: 8,800 kg = 110 male Conservative MPs @ 80kg ave (excluding Garth Turner) 826 kg = 14 female Conservative MPs @ 59kg ave 9,626 kg = Total Conservative MP weight 10,000 kg = Ten tonnes "Regarding the so-called 'intensity' issue, it won't do to just elect lighter Conservatives," said Price. "We need an absolute reduction so that they don't have the votes to do any more damage to Canada's Kyoto commitments." The challenge will come when Canadians pay the bill. No matter what program becomes reality, it will cost money. The Green Party is willing to make gas unaffordable and the Conservatives, making the consumer pay more for products IF the manufacturer has to buy pollution control apparatus's. Car makers even suggest that older cars be banned and people given "incentives" to buy new ones. Most "incentives" usualy mean the alternatives will be more expensive and not VERSA-VISA. Harper is just trying to find a happy medium where the consumer will foot most of the bill. I doubt any other party see's that differently

It is not Canadians who should foot the bill but the corporations who have made obscene profit and are still making it
The conspiracy between the auto industry and oil companies is what promoted the insanity we now live in
Our planet is at stake and now those manipulated into the automobile culture should pay?

    Good post BC Mary.

Canadians always foot the bill. Corporations and governments always pass the costs along. But on the other hand let us not forget that the banking system is a scam which is used to control the resources and people of Canada and the rest of the world. It is another branch of religion that is widely misunderstood and totally irrelevant to intelligent systems designs but infecting every vital organ on the planet. They, (the central banks), would have us believe that we can't afford to survive.

Not without their credit cards and invitations to unpayable debts. Thay are the masters. We live in a society that depends on the dollar. No matter what the sacrifice, it will never be profit. The Athabasca Tar Sands is the biggest example to coincide with Albertas economy. The greed has replaced commonsense. Banks are lined up to insure they get the greatest share. Yes it would but we still will be slopping the pigs. Enviromental protection is already big business for some.

To think we could save the money by slowing down, turning off the lights and quite having long conversations in idleing cars. The trouble is that Canadians don't see the cost savings. It will cost you more tomorrow, no matter what you do. We have to "think" environment instead of Harpers ploy to make money off it.

<blockquote> To think we could save the money by slowing down, turning off the lights and quite having long conversations in idleing cars. </blockquote> It would work if we introduced rationing............bring the problem directly to the proverbial doorstep of Canadians, instead of making it so indirect as to obscure any action/reaction connection.<p>---<br>"Son, if you wanna get ahead in this world, never work for another man as long as you live."

but I live near Athabasca <<

I was born there. I go back on occasion and can't believe the affluence. Booze, toys and heart attacks.
The pulpmill was another influence to the rapid growth. As they (ALPAC?) progressed from basic plans to the actual mill, one could see how they were committed to enviromental measures at the start but as they progressed became harder to convince. I wonder what concessions the Alberta Government made for them. I wonder how far from the origional committment they strayed.

To get rid of the garbage in the environment, you first have to get rid of the garbage in Ottawa. Let's all chip in and rent a dumpster.

I read about the Telsa before. It's the extreme EV. Electric vehicles still get their power fom a source and all depends how the power source is created. If even 20% of auto's today were electric, there would be brown/black outs. BC supposidly is now "buying" electrical power from the USA. Of course Campbell now has the reason to expand power sources with more dams etc. An extensive program was done in Campbell River to provide power to the local pulpmill. The generator runs on Natural Gas, which in turn is brought to the island from Washington state. The cost of "CoGen" was shared by the District of Campbell River and the power available. Now the cost of fuel has gone up, the mill changed hands a few times and economical power not so economical.

10 tonnes of Conservative fertilizer will probably release somewhere in the neighbourhood of 100,000 tonnes of greenhouse gases in the period immediately prior to the next federal election.

And why are they even called "Conservatives" when all they do is accelerate the pace at which natural resources are consumed, and increase the number of people living in poverty.

One would almost believe they took away the wrong message from Dicken's "A Christmas Carol", and got it exactly backwards.
