New Section - 'The Economy'

Yes, the picture is original in case you're worried, Jesse. :-) The same 'model' also posed for my new Avatar in the forums. This came about because I saw that too many stories I had to section in 'General News', 'Eye on Uncle Sam' or 'Can/US relations' were really about the Economy. Let me know what you all think!

The textbook definition of economics is "The science for the management and distribution of scarce resources".

Excellent idea to start a new section for the discussion of how this definition, and alleged purpose, have been misused and distorted into legalized theft from the environment and the enslavement of humanity, throughout history.

Does anybody know an economic theory of the past, or present, that came anywhere near this ideal definition ?

Let's see. Have you not heard about the "big scam" theory?

Our "leaders" have shown time and again that "hard work" is for suckers..............
And now we have a skilled trades shortage, what with everyone wanting to be lawyers, accoutants, and used car salesmen.........

I've known a few lawyers, accoutants, and used car salesmen in my time, and they all work pretty damn hard. I've also seen some blue-collar public sector shops where there was a lot of leaning on shovels and taking extended coffee breaks. The real people who think work is for suckers are those able-bodied people who manage to avoid work by relying on the generosity of their neighbours.
