A footnote to the letter also condemned any Catholic who votes specifically for a candidate because the candidate holds a pro-abortion position. Such a voter "would be guilty of formal cooperation in evil, and so unworthy to present himself for holy communion," the letter read.
The letter, which was revealed in the Italian magazine L'Espresso last year, was reportedly only sent to US Catholic bishops, who discussed it in their convocation in Denver, Colorado, in mid-June.

It seems that the intent of selecting this pope was to ensure that it is business as usual in the Catholic Church. I have recently heard quotes on the pedophile priests from him that essentially made excuses for such behavior by saying that even priests face temptation and by minimizing the behavior by claiming that only 1 or 2% of priests were involved in this behavior.
The Catholic Church seems intent on monitoring the sins of the world instead of examining itself and cleaning its own house and as such it is a hypocritical institution and has no credibility on such matters. It also doesn't seem to understand that it has no place in making policy in secular governments and that such democratic institutions have thoroughly and completely rejected any authority of the church, or any religion, in these matters.
Just ask the Natives that spent time with the religious ones in the schools. All religion is sick, sick, sick.
