Integration Of Military Command Structures: Threat To Canada's Sovereignty

Posted on Monday, May 15 at 08:56 by 4Canada
What the current news coverage fails to acknowledge is that the US Military can cross the border and deploy troops anywhere in Canada, in our provinces, as well station American warships in Canadian territorial waters. This redesign of Canada's defense system has for the last four years been discussed behind closed doors, not in Canada, but at the Peterson Air Force base in Colorado, at the headquarters of US Northern Command (NORTHCOM). The creation of NORTHCOM announced in April 2002, constitutes a blatant violation of both Canadian and Mexican territorial sovereignty. Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld announced unilaterally that US Northern Command would have jurisdiction over the entire North American region. Canada and Mexico were presented with a fait accompli. US Northern Command's jurisdiction as outlined by the US DoD includes, in addition to the continental US, all of Canada, Mexico, as well as portions of the Caribbean, contiguous waters in the Atlantic and Pacific oceans up to 500 miles off the Mexican, US and Canadian coastlines as well as the Canadian Arctic. NorthCom's stated mandate is to "provide a necessary focus for [continental] aerospace, land and sea defenses, and critical support for [the] nation’s civil authorities in times of national need." In my "censored" Toronto Star article, I had warned that the process of Bi-National Integration implying the integration of military command structures was slated to be completed in May 2006: http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=viewArticle&code=20060512&articleId=2428 [Proofreader's note: this article was edited for spelling and typos on May 15, 2006]

The U.S. is an empire so this is not surprising....I doubt they'd even bother posting troops here and they wouldn face a backlash.

Frankly I'm shocked that there has been so little response to this article. I personally find that it both frightens and enrages me. Canada is being annexed by the US in all but name and nobody seems to be batting an eye. One gets the impression that it's the natural order of things.

In 1812 we fought to prevent our annexation by the US. What has happened to us in the intervening years; have we lost our balls? Canada doesn't need US "protection", it needs protection from the US.

Well, I think most of us have known this for so long that there is nothing suprising or new in the article.

My own take on it: dig deep into our federal government and bureaucracy and I am certain you will find it riddled with Canadians willingly acting as agents for the Americans.

Can there be any other explanation for actions such as these?

I have been trying to bring this very problem to the attention of anyone I speak to for many moons, and they think I'm crazy. I have written so many e-mails to politicians, both local and federal about the agresivness of yankee usurpation that I've lost count. So to answer your question there are some people who still have their balls. A large number of people I speak to about American emperialism, are ignorant of the facts or just couldn't give a rats ass, however I'll keep trying. In Solidarity, Frenchy

I strongly believe in this motion, no other country has the right to declare what has always been ours, now theirs/international. The Inuit have lived there since forever, and as long as they keep fighting for the right of ownership of those waters & land masses, every other Canadian should too.

Does this mean the USA will protect Canadian air territory as effectively as they protected their own on 9/11?
