After reading the CBC website here: http://www.cbc.ca/news/background/afghanistan/casualties/total.html I did a little math... 33 Canadians in Body Bags + 130 Bloody Canadian Uniforms ____________________________ 326 parents lives forever changed Is it worth it?

Is it worth it? NO. The only people who are benefitting from the corporate wars are the corporations and the people behind them.

Canada needs to get out now! Cut the ties that bind us to this war machine asap, or yesterday and return Canada to Canadian control in all matters, military, monetary, socially and remove ourselves from this culture of death. We have the right to know why our soldiers are dying, what is the mission they are dying for, what is the long term plan; if it is simply the excuse Harper has given, which is 911- then more than ever we need a full inquiry into 911.

Quote from government handbook re: our Constitution from 1981 -
‘The Charter of Rights and Freedoms and what it means to you….”Transferring power to the people…Constitutional entrenchment of a Charter of Rights and Freedoms limits the power of both provincial and federal governments in favour of the right of individual citizens. It gives people the power to appeal to the courts if they feel their rights have been infringed or denied. The Charter does not transfer any powers or authority from the provincial governments to the federal government – rather it transfers power to all Canadians. It also serves as a powerful reminder to all governments and legislators that their powers are limited and must be exercised with respect for individual citizens.”

So with that power of the Constitution thoroughly supporting we the people, let us consider all factors and make solid decisions and build a better Canada for all! Our youth should not be sent to the slaughter because we have failed to stand up and be the responsible government we ought to be!Democracy means we the people, let's be Action!

Long time no hear from Catherine. Good to have you back.

I heard an ex-UN ambassador (didn't catch his name and am on dialup so...) on "Politics" today saying that it is the responsibility of the PM to rally the citizens behind his missions. What he failed to recognize is that if the citizens do not want a war how in God's name does he have the god-given right to take us on one rallied or not?! I am getting so fed up with being separated from the government as though they have a power that the collective does not. Screw that!

Nice to hear from you too 4Canada. I've been a bit swamped with CAP's Convention this past weekend in Victoria, we covered a lot of territory. Here's hoping we can manage to bring our government back to the control of the people; or maybe I should say bring it to the people for once.
