Not Hundreds, But Thousands Stripped Of Citizenship

Posted on Wednesday, March 28 at 11:07 by RPW
http://www.cbc.ca/canada/story/2007/03/23/lost-canadiansmarch26.html --------------- This is plainly idiotic! That de facto citizens can go on living in this country for decades, holding down jobs, paying taxes, getting married, voting, et al, all without causing so much as a murmur, plainly indicates the uselessness of the Canadian civil service, more concerned with "empire building" than with getting on with their jobs. Now here is a chance for our Conservative government to put its collective money where its mouth is, in implementing "accountability" in government. Immediately grant these 4,000 souls the citizenship they've been quietly living to now, and immediately restructure the civil service to take more responsibility for the laws under its keeping and tutelage, sacking the mandarins who have obviously treated their appointments as a form of sinecure. This was the story I read, and 200,000 possible is not insignificant!
200,000 Canadians may be at risk of losing citizenship: CBC investigation

(CBC) - Ottawa says there are 450 cases of 'Lost Canadians,' but a CBC News
probe has found that more than 200,000 people may be at risk of losing their
citizenship.

Citizenship is something most Canadians take for granted - and it is arguably
the most important right a nation can confer. But for thousands of people,
many of them born in Canada, or born to Canadian parents - citizenship has
become an elusive goal.
I think this speaks to an issue which is worth exploring. What does it mean to
be a Canadian citizen? What rights do be have and what responsibilities do we
have to this nation and our fellow citizens? Our citizenship should not be
something so easily taken away.
"What does it mean to be a Canadian citizen? What rights do be have and what responsibilities do we have to this nation and our fellow citizens?"

Very good questions! My suggestion is that you post these questions in the forum section because it's a better place for debating than in here.

"Our citizenship should not be something so easily taken away."

I agree, especially when it's done as a complete surprise to the citizen!

Ok, thanks for the suggestion. It is in the forums now.

I`d say, given the totalitarianism exerted over our country by the corporate-plutocrats, roughly 32,000,000 Canadians are losing their citizenship!
