"The judge said the police officers sincerely believed that Ward had a pie and said the arrest was not a malicious act."

Well, it didn't require him to be taken into custody for them to realize they had made a mistake nor did it require him to have to take them to court to resolve the matter. This is another clear case of abuse of power, a waste of Tax payers money and an example of where the Courts support the Police when they are wrong. The Police are not stupid people that don't know the law. Clearly an act first and let someone else pay response.

The police also had no reason to strip search the man - it would be very hard to hide a pie down ones pants.

Another important fact is that the police officers responsible suffered nothing from the judgment. They all kept their jobs, suffered no consequences for thier illegal actions, and to add insult to injury the cost for damages was passed on to you and me, the tax payer who had nothing what-so-ever to do with the situation.

Miriam Bedard for the sponsorship scandal. Now Cameron Ward for APEC.

I really wish more people could draw the parallels here, and discover just how 'their' politicians act behind closed doors.
