Hillier Calls For Allies To Share Load In Afghanistan

Posted on Thursday, October 25 at 12:43 by 4Canada
“At the end of this, all NATO countries signed up for this mission,” he said. Gen. Hillier's comments come as Canadian officials are using a NATO defence ministers conference in the Netherlands to pressure European countries – specifically Germany and France – to do some of the heavy lifting in southern Afghanistan, where virtually all fighting with the Taliban is happening. The lobbying effort is indicative of a growing rift between the NATO countries currently fighting in southern Afghanistan, and those that refuse to enter the dangerous part of the country. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/story/RTGAM.20071025.whillier1025/BNStory/Afghanistan/home
