Posted on Wednesday, April 04 at 09:28 by rearguard
The Cuban president's failure to appear in public - and the silence from the Cuban authorities - had fuelled regular speculation about the seriousness of his condition. Officials have said they expect Mr Castro to resume activities in government soon. Earlier in the year, Mr Castro appeared in a live radio broadcast for the first time since falling ill. And he is right. We all know poor black and brown people don't compete well against the aims of multi-national companies. They just don't count when estimating the bottom line profits to be reaped by comendering food stocks for the generation of fuel.

More farms will be bought out by corporations for the sole purpose of turning food production into fuel production because it brings a greater return on investment. More virgin land will be destroyed to plant crops for fuel, only to worsen global warming as the carbon sinks are removed, plowed under and burned.

When farmers are offered twice as much for their crop by fuel producers than they are by food manufacturers who do you think they will sell to? Poor farmers will ditch food production for fuel production as well.

biofuels/ethanol etc in large scale production cannot work. It will be hijacked and used by the same old companies to generate just more profit - poor and starving people be damned.
