Stettler has six doctors, down from seven or eight in previous years.

The shortage means it's more difficult to see a doctor at a clinic, forcing people go to the hospital emergency department.

The Weasel Brian Day (CMA Gaulieter) must be chorkling over this, yet another example of how Canada's poor and disadvantaged continue to get the shaft.

There will be more of these offers, due to the doctor shortage. I'm not sure the offer of a "Chrysler product" is that good of an idea:). Smaller communities suffer most. Literaly, because visiting doctors head for the large cities. Incentives like these are hopefully endorsed with contracts that require the doctor to stay a while.

    Just a pet peeve

Onio, Quec, Maba. You wouldn't abbreviate provinces this way? So why does every reporter/editor east of Saskatchewan always use "Alta."?.

It's "AB". Get with the program.

And until we recognize all the cab driver ans warehouse workers that hold Degrees in Medicine, this is what we'll need to do to stem the doctor shortage.

Medical training standards were high in South Africa in the distant past, when e.g. Dr. Chris Barnard and his team performed the first heart transplants. I do not know what they are now.

Congratulations, Stettler! Join the other prairie towns that all have one or more South African GP's.

The government is purposely killing public health care in Canada to pave the way for more privatization. There are 1000 doctors ready in Ontario to start practicing, but the Ontario government won`t let them. The money is there to properly improve the system to what we had 20 years ago. But these traitors and crooks in government don`t want good things to happen!
