"We are involved in a lot of different issues, some criticisms, some on a pro-active basis and ... like any other business we want to make sure that we're presenting ourselves in the best way possible," said Ruth-Ellen Soles, a spokeswoman for the CBC. "From time to time, we call on them for assistance."

Ms. Soles said, however, that Edelman's consulting would not be limited to helping the corporation deal with criticism. "They help us with a broad variety of issues."

Ms. Soles would not discuss details of the contract, other than to say it was awarded after a competitive bidding process "in the last couple of months."

<i>"Various interests have been critical of CBC on a whole range of issues," he said. "But you know, that happens with any media outlet."</i><p> As you state the "neo-con" National Post is also viewed in this light. Do you think the CBC would have reported this story at all? Of course not, their PR firm wouldn't allow it! :-) Personally, I like the right bias of the National Post, but can't stand the left bias of the CBC. Not because my views reflect the same bias, but because it's so overwhelmingly biased.<p> I've found the best place to get news from is Google. It pretty much shows no bias, because it uses all sources.<p> Their choice in PR firms is good though, the got all Windoze users to blame themselves for Microsoft's complete lack of basic computer security. Eithier that or getting people to accept that it's normal for computers to re-boot 4 or 5 times a day. I'm not sure which is their greatest coup.<p> <p>---<br>"History does not repeat itself, but it does rhyme" Mark Twain

This is disgusting!!! Now the CBC is going to be run by the Americans as well? No more shows like 5th Estate digging deep into issues? Just all pro-Bush, pro corporate propaganda? This can`t be good!

I agree with Dave, this can\'t be good! Although there are some good U.S. shows that I enjoy watching, I would hope that the CBC would get it\'s act together and actually have more good Canadian shows, and that the news and news magazines would reflect what is really going on in Canada, from a Canadian perspective, not as it affects the U.S.
