"There is no basis whatever for Mr. Harper to suggest that the Liberal party is biased against Israel. The prime minister showed a profound lack of respect to the Official Opposition and a profound lack of respect to the Canadian people who elected them."
In his most caustic remarks against Harper since Liberal leadership hopefuls began to campaign in earnest, Ignatieff characterized Harper as having a "one-sided, black-or-white, blind-to-the-realities-of-the-world approach" to the Mideast conflict.

Everybody got to deviate from the norm
What's better, the Liberals headed by an Israeli pandering neocon extremist, or the "new" Conservatives headed by an Israeli pandering neocon extremist?
Then there's the NDP, funded by union groups which is a form of organized crime (protection racket).
Followed by the Greens who unrealistically pledge to turn the world into a wonderful utopia.
Followed by all the others.
The "others" don't seem to have a hope in hell of getting anywhere by next election. A vote for an "other" party is a vote tossed in the trash can for certain.
The NDP has been tossing around some good policies but is still a product of a special interest group with questionable motives.
The Greens seem the most resonable to me after all things are considered and despite their problems. At least they register on the > 1 percentage scale and not much of their policies are terminally offensive however unrealistic they may be.
The bottom line is that a vote for the Libs or Cons is a vote for more of the same corruption and loss of our freedoms and sovereignty. A vote for the NDP is great if you want the country to be run like a massive union. It seems to me that the only thing left are the Greens.
At least we know the direction of Harper's extremism: the government of Israel, in his mind, can do no wrong. Sometimes it appears he sees the Israeli government as even more perfect than the Bush Administration.
FYI I had posted this article in the "Sovereignty watch" category, but it got changed to the "Politics" category. Fair enough, but the political mudslinging is simply a distraction rather than the main point to consider.
In general I support the Jewish people, but I do not count the current secular state as being equivalent to biblical Israel.
Harper has obviously confused the Patriarch Abram prior to his being renamed by God as Abraham with modern Israel.
gen 12:3, God is speaking to Abram (Abraham) and NOT the nation of Israel.
"And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed."
Israel as a state is NOT in any way implied.
If Harper spent as much time actually reading his Bible as he does in scheming, conniving, kowtowing to US interests, and out and out deception he's be a far more compassionate and honorable man than he currently is.

"and the knowledge they fear is a weapon to be used against them"
"The Weapon" - Rush
Those are the fires I was referring to and you are so right. It's quite entertaining. Too bad more people weren't paying attention, this is more entertaining that prime time TV. Last night on Sunday Report there was a funny comment made about Iggy's closing, plagiarised "I had a dream" speech. Iggy had said "I can't remember when the liberal party has had such..." and the comment was "well that's because you've been out of the country for twenty-five years Iggy".
