On 3 Politicians, Goodies, And Fiddling

Posted on Tuesday, February 03 at 15:00 by johnr
The goodies have simply never materialized. You think they will THIS time? If so, I've got some Enron stock FOR YOU! You see, according to Martin & Co., apparently "all the facts" aren't in as yet- about health care, the deficit, education (the 3 largest federal and provincial expenditures) and on and on and on.

Did you know that the intelligent use of the Bank of Canada could reduce the deficit over time, by having the Bank create a larger portion of the yearly money supply, to the benefit of the citizens of Canada? Mr. Martin knows that.

Did you know that the $2 billion offered to the provinces for health care with so much hype is but a pittance of the amount of $ taken OUT of health care (or education)? Mr. Martin knows that. We just had the excellent Romanow Commission- but apparently "all the facts" aren't in.......yet.....

Actions speak louder than words! "Don't tell me, show me!"

Like large corporations (such as CSL?) it is commonplace (and arguably unethical) to 'defer' what is due. In my opinion, Mr. Martin will continue on in an endless "search" and discussion of facts, figures, committees, commissions, appointments, surveys of the Canadian people, deferrals, and etceteras promising almost everything but doing almost nothing. Talk is cheap. Talk is Easy.

This constant fiddling while Canada fades away into colonial (a resource warehouse) status is a tragedy. Canada has lost over 60 companies per month over 18 years, according to Industry Canada's own website, at: http://www.investcan.ic.gc.ca (go to statistics section). Mr. Martin knows that. And he also knows what the terrible consequences of foreign ownership for Canada have been.

Savy Test: 3 politicians sit on a log. One of them makes it widely known that he has made a decision to jump into the water and get into the swim of things for the betterment of humanity.

Question: How many politicians are on the log?

(Hint: check the first part of the title of this article.)

We all know the old adage: If their lips are moving they\'re lying. The whole lot of them, not just Martin. There will never be credible government until we change the way we elect our governments. No parties. Independents only. No one else to blame or look to for support. Just your integrity on the line. I think that\'s when we\'ll get responsible representatives, the people that truly care about Canada.

Yeah. The only problem I can think of of helping people differentiate between those who act in our best interest, and those who do not. The independents would have to be a coalition of relatively like-mided individuals for the government to function properly. I\'d hope the knee-jerk reactions of \"Booting them all out\" would end. Good politicians deeserve to stay on.

You folks should visit Fair Vote Canada and air your ideas.

They are committed to electoral reform, and promoting Proportional Representation.

I am a member and have learned a lot about different voting systems in their forums.

Note: There is NO perfect voting system in the world. There are trade-offs to all systems, but our current system of First-Past-The-Post is one of the worst systems in the world, there are only a couple or three countries using this system these days.

More than 70 or 80 countries are using PR in one form or another.

Well, we know we can`t trust Martin. That`s a given. But we also know he`ll try to make himself sound good and progressive in the beginning, then, when he gets elected, he goes back on most if not all of his promises, saying matter of factly that the cupboard`s bare. Then the cuts will start to happen. It`s no accident that Martin failed to mention anything about the Romanow report. To please his corporate American buddies he`ll only move us closer to private for profit health care!
