You are absolutely right. There are comments on this website that do indeed criticise the US and its policies.

We are not American Bashers, but I for one take issue with the Bush administration.

I have no quarrel with the average American, they are held hostage by the extremes of their government as we are.

I do not agree with my own government. That gives me the right to speak out against their policies.

Please come back and read more articles, I\'m sure you will find them informative as well as entertaining.

This website was setup for discussion, and we need all opinions so we can get to the eventual correct answer.

You can refer to our FAQ and read the section on "<a href="http://www.vivelecanada.ca/staticpages/index.php?page">Are you anti-American?</a>" for a full explanation on our position on America and anti-Americanism. <p> But basically no, our goal isn't to promote hatred of the U.S., but to provide a forum for people who feel that Canada is a unique country with a unique culture and that our policies do not need to be fully harmonized or copied from U.S. policies, especially the policies of the current administration in the U.S. As you will see by reading the site, we don't provide a free-for-all and post ignorant comments like "America sucks" but rather we post articles and discussion about Canadian and American policies. If we're against anything it is giant corporations and the business elite who control them, both in the U.S. and Canada.

It just so happens that the U.S. administration and the world dominater wanna-be\'s are a threat to Canada as we know it, if any other country was attacking Canada, through any means wouldn\'t you speak up? We don\'t speak about the things going on in many other countries because they aren\'t trying to shove their values down our throats, but the U.S. is! We are trying to find a way, peaceful mind you, to stand up for our sovereignty, our way of life and not be swallowed up by any other country. We are trying to encourage our politicians to represent Canada and our interests. It\'s not about hating, but it is about promoting Canada, and rejecting the idea of becoming a part of something which we rejected many years ago.

    Yes they are.

To Anonymous: If you truly read the bulk of the comments on this site, you will find that we are only trying to save Canada from absorption by the US. This is not hate; this is facing fact! We have nothing against the average American. US imperialism is a REAL threat not only to Canada, but the planet! In this we can recognize that many American citizens will agree with what I`ve just said!

<P>Susan, When I click on Are you anti-American? I get an error message. <P>Dear Anon: <P>It's difficult to respond to a question like "why so much hate?" when there is no specific reference to any remark or discussion or bunch of discussions in particular. What set you off? Hard to guess without specifics. So your message has a kind of "drive-by" feeling to it. I do hope you'll stick around and make your point.

-Perhaps you could be more specific.

Do I really have to spell it out? Just look around you! It`s not hard to see! Avro Arrow- US pressure on Diefenbaker killed the project; Trudeau`s national energy policy- to give Canada more control over its own resources because, the 70`s energy crisis was in the US, not Canada; anyway, Reagan`s administration put huge pressure on Trudeau to scrap the NEP and the foreign investment review agency- Trudeau atleast had the backbone to stand his ground, but the US knew that their main man Mulroney was just around the corner; US threatening Canada that we better not decriminalize marijuana; oh, forgot about this one- Canadian gov`t in the 30`s created the crc, pre-cursor to crtc, because Canadians wanted Canadian artists on radio because we were getting overwhelmed by US artists- US sent people from Washington to bribe our gov`t of the day to abandon this, but Canadian gov`t resisted. Softwood lumber dispute- although there`s supposed to be \'free trade\', and since we`re on the topic of NAFTA, American corporations are taking full advantage of chapter 11, - Suing our various levels of gov`t for lost profit, and the dreaded energy clause, where no matter if Canada`s own domestic supply is dwindling, we must continue to send the same amount to the states! Oh, Nova Scotia natural gas being piped directly to the US without servicing Nova Scotia and New Brunswick homes along the way. Gee, I can even go on if you want!

<p>i thought i was going to an informative web page, not a web page soley concentrated on bashing our friends in the U.S. Lets wake up and realize that they are not the problem. </p> <p>So? Please tell us who IS the problem anonymous and we'll see what can be done. Your little "hate" bit sounds too much like the tactics of the Zionists and their supporters who accuse anyone critical of Israeli policies of hating all Jewish people. Try elaborating a bit more.</p>

And if you know the answer to the universe, please inform us. Thanks
