An Overreaction?

I've seen articles that suggest that two of the "terrorists" on the list Ashcroft was pointing to today have been reported as being in custody a year ago already? There is no credibility anymore. Everything is suspect.

Not everyone thought John Ascroft’s warning was justified

Newsweek
Updated: 6:41 p.m. ET May 26, 2004May 26 - Even as Attorney General John Ashcroft warned on Wednesday that Al Qaeda planned “to hit the United States hard” in the next few months, U.S. intelligence officials were privately divided about whether the government had obtained any fresh information that justified such an extraordinary public announcement.

Armed with what he called “disturbing” and “credible” intelligence from “multiple sources,” Ashcroft appeared with FBI Director Robert Mueller and urged the public to increase its vigilance over the next several months, when a number of events, including an upcoming G-8 summit in Georgia and the political conventions, might present inviting targets. The FBI also issued bulletins for seven Al Qaeda-linked suspects. One of them was Adam Yahiye Gadahn, (formerly Adam Pearlman), a 25-year-old former resident of Orange County, Calif. Gadahn converted to Islam and, according to Mueller, attended training camps in Afghanistan and associated with Abu Zubaydah, once one of Al Qaeda’s top leaders.

It would appear that they are going to label every protest as a terrorist action. If that is going to be their modus operandi then we must flood them with protests.

They don't have enough prisons to hold the protesters.

When will they ever get the message ??

BTW, this is likely more a political reaction to help the Bushites because he is dropping like a stone in the polls.

Make war not peace; and they are trying to scare all Americans into believing Bush is on top of it. Not !!

This is political, or they would have upgraded the security level from yellow to orange.

More of the same from the US admin. They are simply running scared because of the upcoming election.

I could be wrong, and I hope I am, but I think the Bush administration will invent another 'terrorist' attack just in time to cancel the election because of the 'emergency' at hand, and assume continuous power for an unspecified time, then they will tighten their fascist grip over America and perhaps the rest of North America.

Even if that does happen Dave,( and yes I agree it's one way for the neocons to retain their position), I believe that it would cause a revolt. I don't think the sane Americans, the Americans that have had to live the last four years with an appointed President would stand for a delay. I honestly believe they've been holding their breath and gritting their teeth to be able to vote overwhelmingly, this idiot out. That's why they have to make sure they're not voting with rigged voting machines. I think that would be the last straw.

However even if Kerry does win, and he carries on with the Bush agenda, the sane Americans will revolt. I have to believe this or I may lose it and all future comments I make will be capitalized in justifiable lunacy.

So, you understand my passion then, eh? Yeah come to think of it, you`re right, many Americans are already fed up. And THIS (sorry) is the America the world needs, the America that truly believes in freedom and equality for all. Like I said before, I want the phrase 'the world`s longest undefended border' to mean something good again.
