Out With The Old, In With The New?

BTW, people in Alberta whine about a federal Liberal 'tyranny' that will never get out of power. I wasn't even born yet and Ralph Klein had a well established premiership. That was over 23 years ago.

Say it again Sam....I agree wholeheartedly...these guys must be stopped, they stopped working for us the day they got elected! Canadians deserve better, and I don\'t beleive we get what we deserve because we elect these guys, as in the promises and claims they make during campaign speeches are not the ones they impose once elected. There must be a way to recall, or challenge the gov. provincial or federal when they are clearly off track, as with the health care issues and others!

The invisible hand works both ways. The deregulation of health care should open the door for more non-western medical practises. I, for one, have had it up to here, with the western medical system. A bunch of overpaid, pill pushing, clubby, tax grubbing ingrates. Welcome to the neighbourhood chinese herbalist.. that\'s what i say!

Hey I\'m all for alternative medicine, but one shouldn\'t be sacrificed for the other, we should have choices and either way we should be covered. I use alot of natural medicines and beleive me they are expensive and not deductible off insurance or income tax. Yes I think there are overusages in the medical system, but if people are encouraged not to seek medical attention and self diagnos and treat, we could end up with serious problems, such as pandemics! Two tier doesn\'t work, we have perfect examples in our neighbor to the south, the public system get doctors(sometimes who are less than up to par), they also don\'t have the facilities or supplies needed, the private system has suites, you name it it\'s available. B.S. is what it is, piled high and deep!!!

I guess the rich people are tired of being sick and forced to be in a hospital with all those poor and sick people. Talk about class systems, I am really not impressed!! They keep saying our health care system is not sustainable, well it would be a hell of lot more sustainable if our money actually went where it was suppose to and not on 5.3 million to tour Russia, or gun registry incompetence, or sponsorship scandals, or provincial spending on restaurants and car services!!!No I\'m not buying this story...

<p> I'm sorry if this is a repeat to some of you who may have rad my post on another thread. Just figured since it was related to this topic I would plug the Maude Barlow book here as well. I hope you don't mind? :-) <P> Can I ask a blunt question to any albertans here. How the heck did you people elect Klein? I mean that in a humor yet serious kind of way ;-) <P> I would like to also plug a book I recently bought. I haven't actually read the book yet, accept for reading the introduction. It seems like a good book so far on this subject of public and private health care systems. The book is called "Profit is not the cure" by Maude Barlow. <P> You can also watch some lectures done by her here: <A HREF="http://www.workingtv.com/profitisnotthecure.html">www.workingtv.com/profitisnotthecure</A> <P> Take Care, <P> Kevin Gagnon<BR> <A HREF="http://www.kevingagnon.ca">www.kevingagnon.ca</A>

If we let the system privatize, we open the door to US HMO\'s and we have virtually no chance of stopping it.

    You choose !!

    I say Not a Chance !!!!!!!!

There is one HUGE positive in thins. Touching the health-care issue like that INSTANTLY GUARANTEES Belinda would get massacred in an election. That leaves Tony Clement, who\'s smart but unknown, and Harper, who\'s alienated every province but his own.

    Bye, bye fools.

Alberta could of done a lot worse than Klein. At least the guy is a federalist. He plays the game pretty good. Enough about Klein! All politics has changed profoundly in last few years. You think these guys don\'t read the internet? All the information used to be filtered with television media pulling all the triggers. Now modern politics is facing voter apathy. And I say, RIGHT ON. We should talk about investing and investments more. All i hear at Vive is \'we need more money\' for our ejucation, or spend money here, or here, for dis and dat.

Modern medicine went out on a limb and there is no way back for it. The limb itself has become diseased. Our perfect immune systems are being treated as inferior and vaccinated to death. Illnesses such as diabetes and cancer may never have a cure because the medications and treatments are huge money making business. Why cure people and lose your income and research grants? I still think we need a universal heath care system but one that does give all people the choice to use herbalist, and therapists of all kinds.

Sorry the being that says, \'enough about Klein\'...why, is he off limits or something? Where do you get the idea he is a federalist? I am not seeing it...he talks about Alberta or the West separating, he makes threats to the people, to the feds, to the homeless, to anyone who doesn\'t agree with his brand of government, which is not very democratic.

Kevin, I have asked the same question about how did Albertan\'s elect this party, I don\'t have an answer, but it makes no sense, because prior to the last election, besides the gas rebate payment, he alienated the poor, welfare, the teachers, the seniors, the nurses and hospital support staff, he did more damage to more groups of people and so the question remains, who voted for them??? Got me....

Are you kidding ???? Ralph Klein is a federalist ????

He would have joined the US a long time ago if the law allowed him to do this.

He is Pro-American, and wants to adopt the US style of everything, including healthcare.

Do you REALLY want to mortgage your house to pay for surgery that you may need in the future ??

Do you really want to pay user fees when you see your doctor ???

Get real. We have a good system, it costs tax dollars, and only the wealthy are against it.

Perhaps you are one of the wealthy ones !!

    I feel for you.

As an Albertan I am frustrated by our \"one party system\". Why do we keep voting him in? Apathy may be part of it. Also, he\'s had a wealthy province to work with - people credit him with no-deficit budgets and paying down the debt. It also seems that Albertans don\'t always see the way the \"gravy train\" is passing them by. We somehow feel guilty for not being successful enough to pay the high tuitions, utilities, car insurance, health care premiums and extra costs that we have here in Alberta. Yes, our income tax may be low and we have no provincial sales tax, but we pay in many, many other ways. Life is stressful in Alberta without a high family income. As for the health care issues, I don\'t think most Albertans agree with him, but may not realize the dangers ahead by opting out. This last comment by Klein is outrageous.

Perhaps people like the person but don\'t listen to what he\'s saying.

Pay close attention to the words that come out of their mouths, and ask the serious questions.

Then I don\'t see Klein as the great saviour, I see him running his ass out of town.

That\'s what we did in Ontario with the Harris/Eves government. They bloody well deserved it !!

Pay attention to the needs and the words.

Klein a federalist? Yeah, and Maude Barlow is a republican! Sure! Klein is another scumbag corporate fascist american lackey!!! Sorry for being so blunt, but I can`t hold back when talking about these lowlifes! And don`t let anybody tell you that public healthcare is not sustainable, because if we had levels of government that were not corrupt, and had a vision for Canada, then the system could be expanded and sustained!!! Martin, Mulroney, Harris, Klein, Campbell, Chretien, Charest, are all the same! Traitors and corporate fascists, who always suck up to Washington!

He is a federalist. He's playing politics Quebec style - "Give us more money for Health care or we'll take our ball and go home". He's saying we'll keep our transfer payments, minus what we think we should get for health care. Quebec can have what's left over.<p> He does not want the US style of health care. What he wants to do is keep the equal access for all, but keep the care end as low cost as possible. To do that, he sees it as paying Doctors as little as possible (or flat rate for services), and having them run their own offices the way they see fit.<p> That being said, he's doing a really lousy job of it. The only industry this recipie has worked for so far seems to be the booze industry. In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice.<p><p>---<br>"History does not repeat itself, but it does rhyme" Mark Twain <br />"The greatest price of not participating in politics is being governed by your inferiors."
