The worst of those penalties — being dumped from cabinet, shuffled to another portfolio, or barred from official trips — have not been imposed yet. But the lesser punishment of public embarrassment has been swiftly levelled on at least two cabinet ministers and one British Columbia MP. All have been forced to publicly swallow their words in pride-pummelling mea culpas within hours of causing unwanted headlines. "It's constant," one government official said of the pressure on ministers. "The message comes from the top: If you (mess) up you will publicly and embarrassingly retract — no ifs, ands or buts. http://www.thestar.com/NASApp/cs/ContentServer?pagename=thestar/Layout/Article_Type1&c=Article&cid=1145051411263&call_pageid=968332188492&col=968793972154&t=TS_Home

Yes Mr Prime Minister, keep on playing the Soviet style autocrat.

Anyone care to take any bets on how long King Stephen's reign of error will continue before he has a massive rebellion within his own ranks?

I don't think there'll be a rebellion. For one thing, most of them are too stupid to realize what goes on and, also they can smell the sweet smell of power if they follow the leader without any questions and show a united front.

This has been going on in history forever. Too bad they no longer wear riding boots they could click-click.

So much for democracy and government accountability, eh??? Aside from his B.S. electoral platform about accoutable government, ethics, he seems to be on a power trip. Funny how out in the open it is though....as if he fears the "liberal media establishment" might turn on him.

It's rather hard for him to not be afraid after all the things the media have documented that he has said in the past as the opposition leader and as the "I'm an economist", that has never been an economist, and all things Canadian suck. If what goes around comes around Harper has some "Harper sucks" coming his way.
