Copps is recommending a look at foreign ownership as part of the review as well--and good for her.

If you're still wondering why anyone should care about media ownership, there's a great article about former CBS anchorman Walter Cronkite's views on the current state of American journalism and why he thinks that "it is absolutely essential in a democracy to have competition in the media."

I commend Copps for speaking out but where was she when CanWest Global was buying up every newspaper, weekly publication, and TV station?

Sure keeping out the American influence is a step in the right direction but hiding when Canadians monopolize the media is not much better. Do a quick google search of media ownership in Canada and see just how far CanWest has control over the media in Canada.

If there was ever a time for Canadians to become pushy - now is the time - for time is running out on this nation called Canada.

Too little too late! Where has Ms. Copps been for the past several years, this didn\'t happen overnight?

Yep! Copps went along for the right wing ride for ten years! Now all of a sudden she supposedly represents the left side of the liberals? Yeah, right. All of this is just like Nazi Germany, only in slower motion!!!
