Canadians In Solidarity With American Labour Strike

Canadian Chrysler plants to close as U.S. workers strike Members of the United Auto Workers union began walking off the job Wednesday at Chrysler auto plants in the United States after the two sides failed to make progress on contract talks by the union's 11 a.m. deadline. The move by the 49,000-member UAW is expected to force the closure of Chrysler's two Ontario assembly plants in a matter of days, putting more than 9,000 people - represented by the Canadian Auto Workers union - temporarily out of work. http://www.canada.com/topics/news/world/story.html?id=4526645a-22ce-48e6-b3d7-251b9f34de6d&k=18968

Sadly, following the one day GM strike in the US, new hirees were forced to take a pay cut as tiered wages were introduced to GM plants in the US. Will Chrysler try to do the same? Buzz Hargrove claimed on CBC that tiered wages would 'stop at the border.' I have my doubts about that as other CAW shops in Canada took on tiered wages as well.
