His class action suit seeks damages of $5,000 for every person who refused to take the oath or did so under duress, the newspaper said. His grievance is with the oath that says the immigrant will "be faithful to Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth the Second, Queen of Canada, her Heirs and Successors." Being a citizen is a privilege, and not mandatory.

We have one law, and it is for all people. We don't have different laws depending on the colour of one's skin, or religion, or anything else that identifies a person as 'different'.

If you don't want to take the oath, no one is holding a gun to your head.

I`m not a fan of the monarchy. Quite far from it. They got rich from plundering their colonies. But nevertheless, the queen is part of our history. But in my view, it should be one`s personal choice whether to pledge allegiance to the queen or not. I kinda liked seeing her picture up in some arenas, like the old Winnipeg arena. I can live with her likeness on some of our money. But I don`t have an allegiance to her! My allegiance is to CANADA!
