Lucky break for Island LIberal Mandeep Sandhu, former Executive member of the Esquimalt-Juan de Fuca Liberal Party riding association.

According to his defense lawyer Richard Peck, charges against the Liberal worker were stayed, meaning he will not have to face trial. Sandhu had been charged with conspiracy to traffic in marijuana.

Sandhu's cousin, Victoria police Constable Ravinder Singh (Rob) Dosanjh, was also charged last Dec. 2004 with obstruction of justice for allegedly counselling Sandhu to "make false statements to law-enforcement officials" about the origin of money seized during a police search of his residence.
