I was replying the quotation the girl's lawyer gave her that "this is a multicultural nation built by immigrants". Whether you agree with that interpretation of history, which I don't mostly, this girl was implying that immigrants benefitted Canada in the past, therefore she must be allowed to stay. The two are non sequitor and no connected. Immgrants helped Canada then, doesn't mean a dishonest law breaker from Costa Rica will help us now. Toronto is already overcrowded with many unemployed.

What do you mean "the only law they have broken"? That is like saying "I broke into your house but I didn't steal anything so I did no wrong". They are not necessarily a good fit and it is the Canadian government's job to make that determination. The fact that they are in the country illegally means they are NOT on the right side of the law no matter what they do, and if we don't enforce our immigration laws, why would they respect our other laws?

I would like to respond to this before the goose-stepping thought police in their brown shirts close this thread let alone delete this post.

Illegal immigrants should be deported. If we do not then we reward them for breaking the law and encourage others to do so as well. Most of the letters to the editor found in the Toronto Star regarding this issue, some by immigrants and immigrants to be, express irritation at these people. Who are these people who think they can circumvent our immigration laws and then claim victimization? Who are these people who choose to ignore our laws but then run to them when it offers them protection? Canada did display compassion to them by allowing them to finish the school year and I do not see any problem with that. However upon completion they should be prepared to leave the country. In fact, if they have any respect for this country then they will leave willingly without being coerced by our laws.

What is sickening is how politicians prey on these people to score points with ethnic voters. MPs and MPPs only take an interest in these cases if they are made public and if they are not then they make sure they do. Illegal immigrants do not mind if they do. They get to stay in the country and politicians score cheap and easy points with ethnic voters leaving Canadians to pick up the tab.

That's no excuse. Some Nazi war criminals lived model lives after escaping initial arrest but that never stoped us from bringing them to trial. I agree with going after the leeches like immigration lawyers, immigration consultants, and all the other parasites who feed off of the traffiking of humans. Last you checked the Liberals were not in power? They've been in power 80% of the time over the last 100 years. They've been in power for the majority of the sellout of Canada.

As for Clinton, he did sell out America and actually took campaign contributions from China while allowing top secret military technology to be transferred.

The law is not based on "harm", the law is based on precedent under British inspired common law. If we set a precedent that immigrants can break our immigration laws, this will inspire more to do so.

This statement is beyond vague. There were many riots in your neck of the woods out west over Chinese immigration to BC--and that was legal, not illegal immigration. This argument is common, but is easy to debunk. Most immigrants today come to Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal. They don't come to live up north (there are no jobs) and they don't come to farm anymore.

As for allowing 10 times the amount, you are simply uninformed about this issue. The government already spends billions settling incompatible immigrants, teaching them English, letting them bring their whole family.

10 times a year would be 2.6 million a year--that is practically the population of the city of Toronto!!!! Are you insane? Canada already accepts 2 times more immigrants per year than Britain, which is a bigger nation of 55 million. The empty space is a myth--you would lose all of the green space in Ontario. after a few years and create a poor country. Our government is starved of resources and cannot afford what we do now.

Immigration only works if levels are LOW and only from compatible countries. This helps the nation and goes largely unnoticed. 10 times would be cultural and physical annihilation and we would become an Asian colony as that is where we get our immigrants today.

The official languages would be wiped out. We would have a civil war--and we are headed that way anyway.

People have to come from somewhere--they don't grow out of the ground like trees. That said, the question is where immgrants come from, and how many if any we should accept.
