The contract for this census was given to Lockheed Martin, the world's biggest arms manufacturer.Being a US company, it gives the CIA and the FBI full access to whatever info you give them. Privacy? Forget it.
StatsCan claims that only software, hardware, and printing went to private contractors. I assume that the software and/or hardware contract(s) went to Lougheed Martin. StatsCan further claims "At no point does any contractor collect, handle, or possess confidential census responses".

However, they also claim the following:

"The systems and networks used to collect and process confidential data are not connected to any external networks, and are physically isolated from the outside."

The above claim is not true, since StatsCan has a website where the census questionnaire can be completed on-line, therefore by definition the on-line collection process is connected to an external network known as the internet.

If the people at StatsCan are not telling the truth about their network connectivity, what else are they lying about?

The primary issue for me, is not the hiring of US war profiteers, but the government's threats against me should I refuse to cooperate with a census that I personally disagree with.

If the census collection process did not include threats of fines and forceible confinment for those who do not cooperate, then we'd never see StatsCan hiring a morally offensive company such as Lougheed Martin for anything.
