I don't know what it means to have a 'strong' law, but I know we've got the 2nd-highest incarceration rate in the western world, which I'm not really proud of. There should definitely be consequences for people who wrongly imprison others, if there aren't any already.

I understand what you mean, too many people in jail, a lot of them because they did not have the money for a lawyer or a good defence but I am talking about the malice use of the courts to put away innocent people. I can think of three people found to innocent after convictions that were arrived at from testiomy or from evidence hidden by the cops or prosecutors. A musican, a "hippie" and a musican! As far as I know no one has paid any price for what they did to these men.

Uhh.. yeah, the war on drugs is a load of crock. Drug prohibition's roots can be traced back to blatant racism. Take a look at the anti-asian riots in vancouver in the early 1900's (around 1908, I believe). The result was the Opium Act. <br /> <br />Then there was that racist Janey Canuck (one of the famous women who won the women's vote), who published articles referencing non-existent studies (a la 'reefer madness') in order to have marijuana added to the Opium Act. <br /> <br />Pot's a narcotic?
