I guess the poorer countries don't like having to pay huge amounts of money to be forced to have all their public infrastructure sold off to private US consortiums at fire sale prices, then having to pay through the nose to use what they once owned.

Ungrateful heathens.

Thanks for the story!

The incredible blindness of ideology is amazing. The IMF demanded school fees in any country they lent money to. actually claiming that would improve their economy, completely ignoring the boom in the Irish economy since they made all post secondary education free. If it doesn't match their foolish right wing beliefs , it doesn't exist in their myopic eyes.
This has left eight year olds crying their eyes out outside their former schools because their parents can't afford the fees.
So who's going to hire the 10,000 economists who currently work for the IMF and world bank?
Love the thought of them camped outside their former palaces crying their eyes out( and going hungry).
Brent

Looks like they are about to get into the communications market.
(Quip)
The World Bank and IFC are hoping to make an equally prescient move by pushing into media and content investments early. "We're looking at what is the next cycle, what will make the most impact," he said.
Full Article

Move into media , so they can promote ideas on how to make an economy boom the way Irelands has by doing the exact opposite of what Ireland has done? Where is their credibility?
Sadly there are people out there who are actually dense enough to believe those who have been repeatedly proven disasterously wrong in the recent past.
Brent
