Title: Lest we Forget - The new Can-US Regulatory Co-operation Council
Written By: Janet M Eaton
Date: Thursday, May 12 at 10:29
Lest we Forget - The new Can-US Regulatory Co-operation Council and
Perimeter Security Accord is the next generation of NACC and the SPP.
By Janet M Eaton, Sierra Club Canada,  Trade and Environment
Campaigner,  May 10th, 2011

A  Vancouver Sun May 9th article entitled "Is 'harmonizing' code for
cutting standards?"  cites the Canadian government, industry
representatives and consumer group reaction to a  new Canada-US Regulatory
Cooperation Council. [1]

It should be noted that this new Regulatory Cooperation Council Is
part of an initiative formally entitled "Beyond the Border: A Shared
Vision for Perimeter Security and Competitiveness" "A Declaration by the
President of the United States of America and the Prime Minister of
Canada" sometimes called the  Perimeter Security accord.   Less formally
this initiative has been referred to as the Son of SPP, and Fortress North
America.  [2]

The Council's mandate to eliminate unnecessary burdens on cross-border trade, reduce costs, faster cross border investment

Methinks Stepehn Harper is talking to ghosts. The USA is toast. It will never recover without changing it's character significantly. The US was born and raised in an atmosphere of infinite expansion. That is what it's economy is geared to. But there is no such thing as infinite expansion, and as was said of dinosaurs, the brain just doesn't yet know the rest of the beast is dead.

Methinks the above sounds like wishful thinking.

If it is mere wishful thinking, then you tell me how you imagine the US is going to recover, old sport. The continuing and uncertain unemployment alone is grist for the rise of the militias. And that is just one aspect.

The USA could become a great republic if it reverted back toward its original plan of government created money, not Federal Reserve worthless paper, and refrained from foreign invasions/ interventions, and alliances as the founding fathers had outlined. But just like Canada, the USA must re-invigorate its revolutionary energy and kick out their treasonous banker-corporate-fascist puppet politicians, and put people in who put their country first, second, and third.

It seems that some people think a "recovery" will happen when US/China wages achieve parity:

Regadless of what happens, the US debt will remain unpayable, undermining the value of their currency, and the standard of living of their people, unavoidably. Stopping spending on foreign wars won't begin to repay the debt past wars have incurred. There is no stuffing that genie back in the bottle. It's clearly a case of closing the barn door after the horse is out.
