I heard one caller on a CBC radio show state that it seems a bit extravagent to have a state funeral for someone who spent his life trying to help the homeless and destitute. What does it cost to have a state funeral? How many homeless people could be fed and housed for that amount of money? I think Jack would rather have the same amount of money be spent helping the homeless and destitute. Would his wife feel the same? Perhaps it's time she spoke out on the issue, or lose credibility on it.
I think this argument may be made against the credibility of the NDP, in the next election, which is why Harper set it up. Jack or no Jack, things have gone from the time would be NDP supporters voted Liberal to stop the Tories, to Liberal supporters having to vote NDP as the best way to stop the Tories. The myth of an NDP vote being irrelevant has been permanently debunked. | |
