Dragom Dragom: So you say it's time to start some cheap private schools? As was said once upon a time: "War is too important to be left to the generals" so is education far too important to be left to the private sector. For confirmation of this, all we have to do is reference this article from Vive: http://www.vivelecanada.ca/article/2359 ... ian-agenda The so-called "Christian right" would have us go back to the "good ol' days" (which for them is somewhere around the era of the Crusades). The trouble with that is, while back then an ignorant peasantry could toil in the soil (which most did), today a liberal education is essential to the very existence of the technology that props up society. I think there is no such a thing as a "natural" economy. That's one of those things we humans make up to convince ourselves we are "more important" than the "beasts of the field".
Here's a good example of the opposite of the Confucian saying: http://www.theledger.com/article/201005 ... ob-Seekers "Stay Calm, Be Brave, Wait for the Signs" RickW |
