>>In time the outback will devour what's left of Australia and turn that country into the world's sand box.<<<

"That probably sounded like a great retort in your head didn’t it.

Lame…"

Yeah I guess its lame. But it still doesn't change the fact that the outback will devour what's left of Australia. Fortunately you are a nation of good swimmers because its going to come in handy some day. Just beware of the Great White Sharks. The Dutch learned how to keep the water at bay. Can Australia get the sand away?

>>Canada may be pathetic but at least we are not that pathetic.<<

Which is more pathetic, doing something for/with a friend and ally or doing the exact opposite of something in order to childishly, petulantly assert yourself with a friend and ally?

The Aussies don’t have there nose up “uncle Sam’s” ass. Americans and Australians look at each other eye to eye.

>>Aside from sun, sand, and surf no one really pays much attention to Australia<<,

Beats cold, cold and cold. That and the constant whining...

>>to be Canadian we must first abolish this multiculturalism BS because it is blinding Canadians from seeing their unique selves.<<

Many countries have multiculturalism. It's just us Canadians that consider it UnCanadian. Many countries have several languages used commonly. Belgium for one. They speak English, Flemish and French as the norm.

"...If being American means that the rights of the individual are unassailable by government or any other entity then what does it mean to be Canadian if we are « not American » in the philosophical sense?

Think about it carefully. It means that in this country the individual has no right to the ownership of his own life. It means that individuals have NO rights in the eyes of their government or, for that matter, in the eyes of the majority of the Canadian population.

So what does this make Canadians? The word « cattle » comes quickly to mind. Like Canadians, cattle have no rights..."
So if your friend decides to hotwire a car do you join him for the ride? Since the invasion of Iraq was a violation of international law I guess that makes you Aussies accomplices to a crime and therefore criminals. Way to live down to your nation's heritage.

"The Aussies don’t have there nose up “uncle Sam’s” ass. Americans and Australians look at each other eye to eye."

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA...uhh...
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAhAHAHAhAHAHAhAHAHAhAHAHAAHAa...ahhh...HAHAHAHA
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA...ahh geez. I gotta tell everyone about that. That's a good one.

"Beats cold, cold and cold. That and the constant whining..."

Your "men made of bark" wouldn't last a day in a Canadian winter. As for the whining I don't know what's worse. Our lame whining or a buch of goofy accents and false bravado.

Tee hee hee hee "eye to eye." Please.

The rest of the world is not North America. Regardless, english is a second language to others and yet not considered anti-culture. It's not unique for the rest of the world to be educated in more then one language. For business or not.

Who the hell said it was?

The international lanuage for business is English. From Tokyo to Paris, contracts are written explicitly in English.

Local dialects of various tribes are culturally interesting, but Germans, Italians, Vietnamese, Igbo - all use English.

So whats your point? You are verifying that most other countries are infact literate in more then one language. North Americans feel that for some reason, everyone else must learn their language. Not everyone speaks to do just business.

The "universal" language is "Latin". It is used in all sciences because the language belongs to no one country anymore.
