Hi, I am off-grid and I can tell you, without a large budget you will have a different life than you have been accustomed to. <br /> <br />The costs for batteries, wind turbines and the appliances that work with them is considerable. <br /> <br />I am still working on my particular situation, with no services at all, and it will take a while for me to get the necessary services up and running. <br /> <br />Generators are not the complete answer, but they are great for backup. Composting toilets are a great thing, but the biggest problem I am having at present is refrigeration. <br /> <br />There are products out there that work on 12 volts, but I have no experience with them. <br /> <br />Keep up the good work, and if you come across some good info, please let us know. <br /> <br />Jim Callaghan
