Yep, I have said it before, all we need is to respect ourselves enough to stand up and then other people will also respect our politicians and our country...but we have to elect respectable politicians.

I told my son that I was thinking of running in the next provincial election, he said but Mom then you realize you'll be criticized and called crooked cause that's what people think about politicians! So I told him if I run, I'll just have to prove that not all are crooks, we have to raise the bar, we have to expect more from them and then they'll start delivering. Right now we are all saying sponsorship scandal, what can you expect, we should be saying 'those dirty crooks' ought to be prosecuted! We will not except this from our elected officials!

Bravo, Whelan... I've been thinking the same thing. But most of my ideas tend to lean toward Federal responsibilities rather than Provincial ones. I'm not familiar enough with the powers of the province to get things done right, I think. But maybe some research will help...

I am not as familiar with the provincial duties or responsibilities as I should be but I have been reading more; I think in Alberta we have not been told much and even some of the other parties can't seem to get info on where our money goes etc. I don't like all this secrecy, after all it is our money, at any government level. Whether I could run or not, I think it is important to be informed and at least hold our elected officials accountable.
