It's the sad truth, but what can you do about? remember , these people are not only rich, they give thousands and thousands of people their jobs and livelihoods. So when you are thinking that it's unfair for the rich to possess so much wealth while billions starve, remember, such thought is the first step to communism(not that i care ). think about the good they're doing. They are what's holding the economy of this country together.

"they are whats holding our economy together"

That's a JOKE right? Nortel holds our country together? Irvings hold our country together? George Weston and the Aspers hold our economy together? I've got news for you, our economy existed long before they were around. Our economy is held together by our federal government, just like it was in the fifties and sixties when the country actually shared its wealth. There was no ONE giant grocery chain yet there was still a food economy. People in New Brunswick would still have gas stations and lumber companies without the Irvings.

In fact most economists agree that such monopolies are what tears economies apart, which is why you need a strong federal government. So when Nortel crashes, you fund it til it's on its feet. The last statistic I saw was that canadians overpay by 40% their food dollars. This is because literally one or at most two companies control the entire food distribution system. That's NOT holding the economy together, that's a monopoly, and we've got many examples of what happens to economies dependant on monopolies.
