Re "Yes Dear", been far to busy with my daughter wedding to do much here, but upon returning the previous posting caught my eye. For your amusement here is part of my "Brides Fathers Speech"

Firstly R........ keeping your wife happy. You and I have practiced this a number of times over the period that it took to put this event together………you remember the “nodding dolls” don’t you R....... Now, together with me……nod your head and say “Yes Dear”…………………..
A long lasting and happy marriage like mine & J...s must be based upon love and trust, you will not always agree but I advise you not to get to excited about the little stuff and try and come to a compromise on the big stuff. Work together to resolve you differences, talk to each other, don’t bottle things up inside, don’t have any secrets from each other. ……..And………if all else fails………..ready R.......………”yes dear”.

On finances there is only one basic rule, the outgo will always be equal to, or more than, the income. Here again open communications with you spouse is vital to keep the difference between the two down to a manageable level. Remember Murphy’s Law, if it can go wrong it will! So try and keep some reserves put away for when it does, talk to each other about what purchases are essential and those that are not. ………And if you cannot agree on that new doodad that M... has set her mind on, remember that you are not going to win R......, so bite the bullet and nod your head and say………”yes dear”.
When you are up to your ass in alligators it is difficult to remember that the initial objective was to drain the swamp
