My cynical mind says if the US is publicly supporting one side then they rigged it. And our pathetic Anne Mclellan crowing our governments rejection of fraudulent elections while turning her back on what has taken place in the US two elections in a row. And then coming from some dark corner of the government we hear that Canada is likely going to Iraq to help with their elelctions! First off to expect that to answer the problems there is sheer denial of what is going on there. And to expect the Iraqis to trust Canada, after we have our sidecar attatched to the Hells Angels next door, to give them democracy and a fair election, makes one shake their heads until all the little marbles settle into the places that allow for insanity to look acceptable.

The Ukrainians, the Venezuelans, the Spanish, the Argentinians....there are many peoples around the world that we could learn from about the power in passion and about simply doing the right thing.

долгосрочной службы Украина!!

Sorry, a little off topic

Peaceful protests indeed, but there is much more to this than the western media has reported.

Many feel Putin has been stealing elections for 10 years. He's bankrupting Yukos, after saying he wouldn't, and is trying to keep the core of the old Soviet Republik together through some pretty underhanded means. And the West has been turning a blind eye, so long as he didn't cross some unwritten imaginary line.

This election crossed that line. The Ukraine really pissed Putin off when they sent soldiers to Iraq too.

I hope it doesn't get ugly - but don't discount their resolve! It might be peaceful now, but it might come down to civil war.
I admit I was also impressed by the Ukranians this past week. They are out there in a blizzard standing up for their rights.

Here and in the US, would we do the same if we thought the elections were rigged? I highly doubt it.

Apathetic, there's that word again!

When they think the elections in the US are rigged, the other candidate even helps out by giving his concession speech before the votes are even counted.

Would Canada be any different?
