Interesting, although I haven't read the original thread I doubt many were criticizing the actual soldiers doing the footwork. As anybody with military experience knows, you don't blow your nose without orders, so being 'on the ground' within three hours doesn't necessarily count for much.

A republican governor on Studio 2 was claiming that there was a breakdown at all three levels of government. I'm not judging this since I was on holidays and missed the entire thing completely, this are his words not mine. Corporations and media companies were getting choppers and airlifts in virtually while the storm was raging, there was no reason why supplies could not have been trucked in as well-but they weren't. Personally, as a conspiracy theorist I think this was intention. The one thing to come out of this has been the patent blame of inactivity laid on the government, and the heaps of praise dished out to corporations who were quicker to act. Now that seems coincidental to me, at a time when corporate america is wallowing in wealth and joe american is hurting, here is the instance which joe public will look at and desire that more responsibility be granted to corporations and less to government since they were ineffectual.

Of course the main point that it was privatization and economic interests which meant the levies were not updated while growth was put into private growth will be lost and all that will remain is that government cannot be counted on to do anything, and that private enterprise be put in charge.
